Billy gave him more water when they got home, Steve telling him he didn't want to wake up in the morning with a hangover. Not after what happened that night. Billy understood this because he wouldn't want to have one either.

Billy made Steve some toast to help sober him up faster, only working a little bit. Steve ate and Billy leaned against the counter. "When was the first time?" Steve looked up at him. Steve didn't even try to play dumb, he just looked down. Billy walked over to the other boy, kneeling in front of him. He lifted his chin with his finger. "You can tell me, Steve."

He took a deep breath and finally spoke. "It was about 3 months in. He would just, lay it on me. Calling me names. He made it seem like it was always my fault and it was. I should've been on time when-"

"Don't you dare finish that." Billy interrupted, holding Steve's face gently. "None of what he has done to you is your fault. I know he made it seem that way and I fucking get it. You have a lot of people who love you, Steve, truly love you. God knows I didn't have the support as you do."

"Momma! I found a frog!" Billy said, waddling towards his mother on little legs. She looked towards the doorway and smiled. "Well, that is a sweet little frog, William! I think we should name him, Dontcha think?" She said, kneeling down to Billy's level. "I want to name him Johnny. Like my brother," he says, his mother smiling wider.

"That's a wonderful choice William, why don't you put him back and visit him tomorrow?"

"Alright, momma!"

He raced away back to the river, lowering his hands and letting the frog swim away. He continued to play along the bank before the sky started to dim. He ran back home with a hungry stomach and sore feet. When he looked in the window, his smile dropped as quick as a lightning bolt. His father smacked his mother across the face.

"Momma!"

Billy ran in and tried to get at his mother, his father pushing him roughly away. "Leave us, William!" He yelled, another smack. He ran out to the back and cried like a baby. He grew up real fast that day.

"What do you mean?"

"It's not important, want anything else?" He asked, putting the plate and cup in the sink. He turns around and Steve is directly behind him. "I want you," Steve whispered, looping his hands in Billy's belt loops. He brought him closer, licking his lips suggestively. "Steve you're drunk and not thinking straight."

"So? I know you want me too."

"That may be but you're drunk. I don't want to do anything right now but get you to sleep."

"Come on Billy," He drawled, feeling up his chest. "Please?" Steve begged, starting to unbutton the shirt. "Steve, let's go to bed," Billy says, assertiveness rolling off him. Steve liked this idea, smirking and walking upstairs, swaying his hips more than he needed to. Billy followed after him with a sigh after cleaning the rest of Steve's spot, seeing Steve stripping in his room.

Steve pouted when Billy went to tuck him in and then leave the room. "Lay with me?" he asked, big brown eyes pleading seemingly more than his words. "Scooch over, Pretty Boy." He said, Steve happily scooting to the side. Steve curled into Billy, laying his head on his torso. He tried to move his hand down but Billy stopped him. "Sleep baby, I'll be here when you wake up."

Within a few minutes, Steve was out like a light. Billy watched the slow and gentle breaths he breathed in and then out. He wished he wouldn't be the reason those would inevitably stop. He slipped out from under Steve and went into the bathroom, splashing water on his face.

There has to be another way he can get rid of the Harrington's without hurting Steve. "Fuck, no. Why do you care?" He said, slapping himself. He can't let himself feel. That's how bad things happen. The moment you start to care, things get worse. He walks out, taking another look at Steve before sleeping on the couch for the rest of the night.

If he gets too attached then he won't be able to do the job.

Too Late.
