The bright white lights were blinding when he came to. His heart rate beeping on the machine next to him and a soft hand in his. He slowly lifted it to touch Billy's hair, his blonde curls messy and unbrushed.
Billy perked his head up at the motion, his pretty blues wide open now. "Steve, hey, you're up. How are you feeling?" Steve shrugged, feeling better than earlier. "My body hurts, and I'm hungry," he says, touching his stomach.
"Well, you're in luck I ran out and got you some food so you wouldn't have to eat hospital food." He said, Steve, smiling at him. "Thank you, Billy." He said, leaning in. Billy hesitantly does as well, kissing his forehead not his lips. Steve pouted a bit, looking at him worried. "Bil-"
"Dingus!"
He looks up to see Robin, Heather, and the other girl from the house. "Hey guys," He rasped, both girls hugging him. "I'm Jess, an old friend of Billy's." She said, hugging him as well. "Heard you helped save me. Thank you."
Jess smiled and nodded, Steve, watching Billy walkout. She noticed his face and sighed. "He hasn't felt this way in a long time. The last time the boy got hurt, really hurt. They were friends and more but it was a long time ago he didn't know what he was feeling. So, when you were gone he wasn't... himself."
"Yeah, he told me about him, didn't know what they were."
"Yeah, and now he's blaming himself and he's nervous and worried about you."
"He shouldn't be doing any of that, I made it out alive. But he's stubborn so will take more than a talking to. Anyway, when am I out of here?" He asked, Robin, checking his clipboard.
"5 tonight." She said, him sighing relief. "Ugh, thank god. This pillow is so fucking scratchy." All girls giggled and stayed with him while he ate, soon letting him sleep.
They woke him when he was free to go, helping with his clothes. They helped him out before leaving in their separate cars, leaving him and Billy alone in the hospital parking lot. "Hey," Steve whispered, nosing at Billy's neck. Billy held him close to his chest, swaying them a bit.
"Hi," he said back, intertwining their fingers. "Come on, let's get you home." He whispered, not kissing Steve again when he leaned in. Rather than asking about it, he nodded and got into the car. The car ride was quiet, other than the soft sounds of 80's rock playing through the radio.
"When they get back, they sit in the living room. Billy gets up to make them coffee. Steve gets up and walks over, wrapping his arms around his abdomen. Billy stiffened, stopped his movements. "Hey, what's going on with you?" He says, Steve, trying to find the beautiful blues that are hiding from him.
"Billy, why can't you look at me?"
"Here's your coffee." He said, dropping the mug in front of Steve before moving past him. Steve rolled his eyes and followed him. "Billy-"
"Steve you should really rest, you're tired."
"Not unless you look at me." Billy then turned to him, revealing his glossy eyes. "What." He said. It sounded soft and defeated. "Why won't you let me touch you?" Steve asked, walking closer but not touching just yet.
"I don't want to hurt you, I'm afraid if I touch you you'll shatter like glass."
Steve just sighed and nodded, sitting on the couch Billy following him. "I'm not going to lie to you and say it's not possible, because it is. But, you would never ever hurt me, Billy. Because I care for you as much as you care for me. And if I'd never hurt you, neither would you."
"I can't believe I let this happen to you." Billy sighs, head in his hands. "No, this was all him. Why did he want me anyway?" Steve asked. Billy kept his head down. "He's an old friend of my dad's. Hates seeing me happy." He lied.
Steve nodded. "Well, whatever the reason," He says, climbing into Billy's lap. "You found me, and I'm safe here, with you." He says softly, before leaning in to press their lips together. He cups Billy's face and deepens the kiss, Billy holding his hips flush with his.
Billy kisses down Steve's collar and jaw, Steve sighing at the feeling. "Fuck, I love you." Billy breathes, making Steve freeze and look up at the blonde. "What did you say?" Steve asked softly, touching his jaw.
"N-Nothing I was, um, y-yeah it was nothing." He said, leaning in again only for Steve to lean away. "Billy Hargrove, you never stutter." Steve chuckles and looks Billy directly in the eyes.
"Billy I love you too."
His eyes lit up at those words, bringing him in for a passionate kiss. "YES!" He yells, throwing up his hands as Steve whips his head back in a laugh. "Shut up and kiss me loser," Steve says. "You ain't gotta tell me twice," he says, roughly kissing Steve. He hums in delight, Billy on top of him as he lays Steve on the couch.
"Mmm, pretty boy if you didn't just get saved from a kidnapping I'd fuck you right on this shitty couch."
Steve bit his lip. "Too bad so sad sweetheart," Steve says, kissing him again. Billy responds softer this time, holding his hips soft yet firm. He lets Steve know he's safe. Steve pulls away to look at him, his lips puffed and red. Just how Billy likes it. "Love you idiot," Steve says, Billy smiling.
"And I love you."
