Katsuki raised an eyebrow at the teen before him, then a determined look spread across his face.
"You're on motherfucker."
(Y/n)'s look met his as they turned to the machine. There were two side by side, and both were empty. It was like they were made just for them to compete at. They took their places at the machines and counted down from three. Once (Y/n) yelled 'go,' the two pressed the start button and were put into the game.
(Y/n) watched the screen carefully, and moved the stick so flawlessly, dodging all incoming attacks, while simultaneously pressing the button to shoot.
Katsuki, on the other hand, was thrusting the stick in every direction as hard as he could (stop), while slamming his fist on the button, shooting everything. His strategy was surprisingly working. Though (Y/n) was being more careful in their actions, and was winning.
Katsuki glanced over at them briefly to see their score. His eye twitched when he noticed it was higher than his own. He growled loudly, pressing the button harder and faster, until he was winning.
(Y/n) glanced over at his screen and saw he was winning. Their nice mode wore off. Now, they were going full throttle.
They weren't as intense as Katsuki, as to not break the machine, but they were fast. Pressing the button as quickly as possible and flicking the stick way before an enemy was even within range.
(Y/n) was winning now.
Katsuki didn't notice for a bit, until he glanced over at their screen. His eyes widened. They were beating him by a lot. His eyes trailed to their face, their hood slowly falling off as they were so concentrated on the game, the blue wig making them look so different. He saw their eyes, sparkling like the sky. But the most important part was their smile.
It was so genuine, not fake.
They were smiling. For real! Katsuki smiled as well, until he heard the sound of a life being lost on his game. He turned his attention back to the game and scowled lowly. (Y/n) smirked at him, and he immediately went back into his competitive mode. It wasn't long before the rest of the group saw their competition and went to watch, rooting for who they wanted to win.
Some other people wandering the arcade stopped to watch for a bit, but most lost interest and continued on their way. The two teens were going at it though.
After about fifteen minutes, the two were both on their last life. The level was insanely difficult, and Katsuki wondered how the hell (Y/n) was able to do it so flawlessly. He started matching their movements to figure out the secret, but he couldn't get the hang of it.
It wasn't long before Katsuki slipped up, losing his last life.
"NO!!" He screamed, punching the machine as hard as he could, nearly breaking it. (Y/n) was about to cheer, but saw that his overall score was higher than their current score. They concentrated and kept an eye on their score.
"KAORI SURPASSED BAKUGOU!!" Mina yelled out.
"KAORI IS THE WINNER!!" Sero and Kirishima added.
"KAORI!! KAORI!! KAORI!! KAORI!!" The three teens started cheering, jumping up and down. (Y/n) was smiling so brightly, tempted to get in on the cheering. They looked over to the sulking Katsuki.
He glared at them, scoffing and looking away. (Y/n) threw their arms around him, burying their head into his chest, causing Katsuki to stumble backwards. He caught himself on one of the other arcade machines.
