Year 847
Age 12
(Y/n POV)
It had been 3 days since you have enrolled in the cadets, it was lucky that you were able to join given that your birthday was a few days ago making you old enough to join. You knew some cadets from the grueling first day of introductions where Commander Shadis just yelled at people all day, he didn't yell at you though and brushed past you as well as some other cadets. Yet you didn't exactly talk to anyone. You never did get over your shyness when talking to new people and you didn't really know what to say after you told them your name. Besides finding it difficult to talk to people, you found it fairly simple to do most of the training. For now it was mostly running and you had impressive speed and stamina so you would often finish before everyone else, very few would manage to keep up with you but one girl in particular caught your attention, she had jet black hair that was shorter then the first time you had seen her, an expressionless face, onyx colored almost soulless eyes, she always wore a red scarf with her uniform, you think her names Mikasa. Truth be told she kinda scares you.
Even after all this time you had never gotten over what happened to you. You still think about it everyday. You haven't had a solid nights sleep in the last 2 years, all you dream about is what happened on that day and occasionally of your sister just hanging there. You were right, the feeling of grief wasn't going to go away. You missed your family so much and all you could do was live for them.
After all this time you have barely gotten any taller, you were 5'1 at best, but you weighed a little more cause you've gotten at least a little muscle, even if you're tiny at least you're a little strong.
You wrote to Nora a lot over the last two years, She was really your only friend. You wrote a lot about your lives what you were doing. She even sent you about 11 pages worth of letters trying to console you when you told her about Angela, given all the dried water marks on each letter you assumed she had been crying for you, she's such a good person. You even got the chance to see her again when she was in Trost for work. She even took a day off just so you two could spend time together. Nora was so nice to you, her letters helped you a lot and often cheered you up when you read them. She was like a mother figure to you but you hardly ever thought about it like that because it made you miss your own mother all the more, still it was nice how she cared about you like you were her own.
Your time was spent mostly on practicing with your sword, you have gotten far more used to it and can use it very effectively. You even encountered travelers from time to time who would spar with you. You were undefeated so far. The training corps let you bring your sword with you to camp and it was always in your bunk so few people even knew you had it.
You sat in the cafeteria and looked down at your full tray of food as you realized you had been lost in thought again and almost everyone else was gone so you figured it was time to start eating. When you were almost done you heard some talking behind you and a boy with brown hair and green eyes sat next to you at your empty table and started speaking.
?: "Hey Buddy, you're the one that always beats Mikasa in long distance running right?" He asked you looking a little enthusiastic.
Y/n: "Y-yeah... I think so... which one is Mikasa?" You replied a little uneasy, uncertain what he wants or why he suddenly talked to you.
He chuckled and put his hand on the back of his head as he could tell you were uneasy.
?: "Sorry. Didn't mean to come out of the blue like that. I'm Eren, Eren Yeager, it's nice to meet you." He introduced himself.
Y/n: "I'm Y/n L/n." You responded. His name rang a bell. "Aren't you the one who wants to join the scouts?" You asked not exactly making eye contact.
