Year 848
Age 12
An important day
(3rd Person POV)
Being in the mountains for training was no easy task, the air was thin, the terrain was tough and steep and it took a great deal of stamina to be able to survive.
It was a particularly difficult week for Y/n. He was one of 60 recruits taken at random to complete this weeks training course. unfortunately for him, no one he really knew was taken with him.
Y/n had just gotten by, by doing the obstacle courses and hardly talking to anyone except the commanding officers.
At the end of the grueling week the cadets were ready to drag their broken, exhausted bodies back down the mountain and back to the main camp, but Y/n had other plans and approached one of the commanding officers.
"Can I go further up the mountain?" Asked Y/n, a little uncertain if she would let him.
The officer was bewildered. "Why would you want to go further up?"
"I need to get s-something... It's for my friend..." Replied Y/n as shy as ever.
After thinking about it for a moment she decided to allow him. "Okay, but two things. One, don't get yourself killed somehow. Two, don't be gone too long."
Y/n nodded in agreement and started on the path which led further up the mountain.
Annie was taking a break from practicing on her training dummies. It was late and it was sort of cold out but she could live with it.
Something was lacking, something had been for the whole week. No one had talked to her, not that she minded, but there was also no one to sit by her at lunch everyday and ask how she was doing and no one to annoyingly complement her fighting style with big stupid puppy eyes.
Annie rolled her eyes at the thought.
But there was no denying that a part of her in a way sort of missed it. She tried to find out why, after all she wasn't there to make friends.
After some thinking Annie snapped her fingers as if she had found the correct answer.
"Y/n's convenient to have around." Thought Annie.
Annie did wonder where Y/n was though. He hadn't returned when everyone else came down from the mountain. Then again he could have went into town to buy some things.
Suddenly Annie heard footsteps approaching, the bushes around the tree line had grown making it difficult to see anything and the fact that it was dark didn't help either.
No one had ever come to this spot which only led Annie believe that it was Y/n. Still, she didn't want to let her guard down and got into her fighting stance expecting anything to happen.
"Who's there?" Called out Annie in the direction of the footsteps.
"Heimskir runnar. (stupid bushes)" Muttered Y/n, not hearing Annie's question, moving the bushes aside and stepping into the light from the torches.
Annie immediately let out a sigh once she had heard his voice and dropped her fighting stance.
Y/n looked completely exhausted with some scrapes on his face and his breathing was heavier then normal.
"What are you doing here?" Demanded Annie, her face giving no indication that she kind of missed his company. "I said you didn't have to come the day you got back."
