Sinik

After treading through endless  forest in search of tracks or anything that would lead us to where Ayla and Hunter might be, we had to conceded defeat when nothing was found. We had come across many upended tress but that was not enough to deduce where the person responsible had went

Judah and i reluctantly decided it  was time to go back to his territory. It was now compromised and they needed to relocate. i could sense the disappointment he felt equally my own. He had  only just reunited with his mother and sister and now they were in danger of being taken from him again. Not to mention his territory he had lived in all his life was now compromised. The land  was his fathers life's work. He built and protected and maintained that stretch of land that was rightfully all their own

My heart went out to him however the reality of the matter was this war would leave none of us unscathed.  Before it  was all over,  lives would be lost, hearts broken, betrayals unearthed and so much more

As the camp packed up to move out a rumbled sound pierced the stillness of the night air. The ground beneath our feet began to shake uncontrollably toppling everyone to the ground repeadlty. I grabbed for my sword and shouted orders as did Judah.

Weapons were ready and all eyes were alert and trained, searching the darkness for the threat

A heavy figure emerged he appeared to be using the earth to move swiftly, he leaped from the the rocks holding him adrift and approached us, his footsteps sounding like an earthquake

Immediately all weapons trained on him but he simply  held up his hands in surrender. I studied the male intently. His tall strong stature resembled the same hardened stones that  he wielded  so effortlessly. His dark hair was a disheveled, tangled mess and his clothing was hastily thrown on and had no doubt seen better days. He wore no shoes on his feet and they appeared just as  hard and worn as his face. But what really captured my attention were the scars covering both his arms. they looked painful and extensive, as if someone had ripped his flesh clean off and the skin struggled to repair the damage

"Who are you?!" i barked at him stepping forward

"Makiel" he answered without hesitation. His eyes swept the mass of people glaring at him untrustingly

"And What is it you seek here, Makiel?"

"Hunter said i would find you in these woods. he and his family are in severe danger"

"Hunter?,,,how do you know Hunter?.  Exactly Who are you?!"  Judah demanded

"I once worked with him in the facility. When Oren seized control i joined his ranks, as a spy"

Judah and I glanced at one another astonished by his revelation, but still  skeptical of whether it was indeed true or not

"How do we know you are telling the truth" Judah spat

The male sighed lowering his hands. "You dont but you can either trust me or leave them all to die." He sneered impatiently

When none of us moved he left out a puff of air in exasperation. Frustration lined his face as he glared at us

"Hunter was a fixer at the facility like me. His daughter is a hybrid, part fae part psychic. His ex wife Lara, was secretly in love with and  working for Oren and only married him to grow closer access to Ayla. His plan included her all along, they only wanted to wait until she was of age. the only thing they didn't account for, was how powerful she would be" He admitted

"Is that enough proof for you"

No one spoke. It was clear he knew much, but that didn't mean he was on our side

"Where is Dakkar?"

" I will take you to him. He holds them all captive and if we do not hurry,  he will succeed in impregnating Ayla, thus controlling her........ forever"

I stared in horror at what the man had just revealed. I needed more answers but felt  the haste of his words commanding me to act

"PACK UP QUICKLY. WE ARE MOVING OUT NOW!!!" i shouted

A flurry or movement ensued as everyone hurried at my command

"Do you believe him?" Judah asked coming to stand beside me. Together we watched the male not yet sure of his motives

"Not quite but i will not risk harm coming to Ayla or hunter or your mother if there is even a slight chance he is telling the truth....they need us and now"

"Agreed" Judah murmured if my mother or sister are harmed even in the slightest, blood will rain from the skies before this is all over"  he spat before stalking away

"Sinik may i speak wiht you?" Torra's voice said interrupting my rapid thoughts

I turned to face her with a agitated scowl

"What is it Torra?" i snapped still irate at her previous antics

She averted her gaze and shifted her feet, a habit I knew meant she was nervous

"I do not think you should trust this man. He could be leading you to your death. We know nothing of him"

"I understand your concern and it is appreciated but i have deiced to follow him regardless"

She was oddly silent as she stared at me intently

"If this is this about what happened before i apologized to you. I meant no disrespect, nor harm Sinik. you know have i feel about you, how i have always felt. This is not like you to go blindly into the unknown. This woman has tainted your good judgment. I-"

"ENOUGH TORRA!! none of that is relevant. How you feel for me does not  matter because i do not feel anything for you. Never have and i never will, i believed you to understand that you betrayed my trust with your antics. If i cannot trust you then you are of no use to me. My judgment remains sound, if you doubt that, then you are dismissed from my regime and may retune home-"

"NO Sinik..... please I swear you can trust me!!" she shouted on a plea

"Then prove it!!" i barked "Help assemble our men i want to move on in an hour"{  i spat before walking away from her

Just before the camp was finally  ready to move on the male Makiel walked towards me with a odd expression on his face

"I am told you and he are in charge" he said gesturing towards Judah

 "Yes we are"

"Well i have a question for you that i need answered before we proceed"

"So do i but, now isn't the time for such things. Time is of the essence"

The male squared his shoulder and jutted his jaw in defiance and determination

"I will not lead you anywhere without knowing what has happened to my son. Hunter said you had him.............. Did you kill him?"

I spied Judah coming over as Makiel's voice rose in a threating manner. I immediately bristled at the tone, but swallowed my anger knowing i needed this male to lead me to my love

"Who is your son Makiel?"

"His name is Murkan"......................

Major shoutout to whoever can identify who this man is from the first book

Do you believe Murkan's father? Is he a true friend or foe?
