Chapter 1 making new friends

Ariel was walking to school one day. "Stupid wolf curse." Ariel said to herself while walking to school. She walked into the school and the school bullies walked up to her. She bumped into them. "I'm sorry." Ariel said. "Well, if it isn't the new kid." Jesse said. Ariel tried to go around them when Jesse blocked her path. "Going somewhere?" Jesse said. John was walking down the hall with Hannah and her sister, Emily. "That was a great idea, to take that shortcut. At least we get here before our classes start." Emily said. "Yeah, I didn't know about that shortcut." Hannah said. Meanwhile in a different part of the hallway, "You know what we call new kids around here? Fresh meat." Jesse said just as John came around the corner with Hannah and Emily. Emily started to walk towards them when John pulled her back. "They're going to clobber her any second." Emily said. "Yeah but you know Ariel, cool as ice." John said. "What's wrong, you gonna cry?" Jesse said. "Take a good look. Do you see any tears?" Ariel said with a serious look on her face. "Come on this chomp is boring me." Jesse said before he walked away with Dominic. Then Ariel walked to her locker. "Can you believe those bullies? Someone should teach them a lesson." Emily said as she walked up to Ariel with John and Hannah. "How do you do it Ariel? How do you stay so calm?" John asked. "They didn't bother me." Ariel said. That's when she hears the bullies picking on someone else. "Give it back, there's a live bug in there." Aaron said. The bullies were throwing it back and forth to each other. "Stop it, you're going to hurt it. Be careful." Aaron said. "What, you're gonna cry, crybaby? Wait, I think he's really upset." Jesse said. Dominic stopped laughing. "Here." Jesse said while starting to give it back. Then he yanked it back. "Syc." Jesse said. Then Ariel grabbed his hand really tight, almost like she was crushing his hand. "Just because you're bigger doesn't mean you can pick on him or this bug. No matter how small, everything deserves respect." Ariel said. Then she let go of his hand. "Whatever freakshow." Jesse said before walking away with Dominic. As they walked by Aaron, "We'll see you later." Jesse said. Ariel smiled as she gave the bug back to Aaron. "Thank you." Aaron said. "No problem, no one should pick on my little cousin. What is it?" Ariel said. "It's a stag beetle. It's one of the most rare types of beetles in the world." Aaron said before walking away. "Cool." Ariel said. "What a girl." John said. After school Ariel went to the community park with John. "So that kid that you stood up for is your little cousin?" John asked. "Yeah, well, one of my little cousins. I also have some that are older than me." Ariel said. They walk up to the amphitheater in the park and met with Virginia and Joe. "Hey guys." John said. "Hey John, what's up?" Joe asked. "Not much. This is Ariel. She's new to the school." John said. "I saw what she did this morning, against those bullies." Virginia said. "Everyone moves aside when the bullies walk by. They walk around like they own the place." John said. The next day Ariel was walking to her history class when she accidentally bumped into someone. "Oh, sorry, I didn't see you. Are you okay?" Ariel asked. "We're okay." Jane said. "Yeah, we're just fine." Josh said. "Hey, you're Ariel, the new girl, right?" Jane said. "Yeah." Ariel said. "Just wait until you meet the biggest school bully." Josh said. "Why? Who is the biggest school bully?" Ariel asked. "Her name is Alyssa. She's the most popular girl in the school." Jane said. Then they went to their next class. After history Ariel had study hall. She walked into the classroom and saw Alyssa. "Oh great, I have study hall with her." Ariel said under her breath. Alyssa walks up to her and starts to talk to her. "Hey, you must be the new girl. I'm Alyssa." Alyssa said. "It's nice to meet you Alyssa, I'm Ariel." Ariel said. Then Ariel's friend from best buddies walked in. "Hi Emma." Ariel said. "Hey, do you want to get together after school and have like a homework group at my house today?" Emma asked. "Like after school or what?" Ariel said. "Like after school today." Emma said. "Okay, that's fine with me." Ariel said. Later that day Alyssa was singing popular when she was walking around town with a couple of friends.

At Emma's house Ariel walked into her bedroom. Hey Emma." Ariel said. "Hey, I'm glad that you're here. The others are on their way." Emma said. "Okay." Ariel said. After homework group Ariel went back to her house. "Dad, I'm home." Ariel said. "And just in time for dinner." Mike said. Speaking of dinner, what are we having for dinner?" Ariel asked. "We're having meatloaf for dinner." Mike said. "Makes sense." Ariel said. The next day Ariel was doing some training by herself. After she trained for two hours she decided to take a break. While she was taking her break Virginia called her. "Hey Ariel, we're on the edge of the forest behind the elementary school. We have something to show you. Can you come and meet us like right now?" Virginia said. "Sure, I'm on my way." Ariel said. She got to the elementary school around 9:20 at night. "What's up guys?" Ariel said. "Not much. Look." Virginia said. "A wolf pawprint. But why would it be on the edge of the forest?" Ariel asked. "We don't know. There's more than one. There are about twenty four of them." Virginia said. "My guess, they're from a wolf pack but we don't know why they would come to the edge of a forest." Joe said. "That's so strange." Ariel said when she touched one of the pawprints and got a flashback. "Ariel, are you okay?" John asked. "Wh- what, yeah, I- I'm fine." Ariel said. "Okay, just wondering because it was kinda like you were miles away." John said. "I'm fine guys, okay?" Ariel said. "Okay, girl, chill." Virginia said. "Sorry." Ariel said. Then she went back home.
