A/N: going to be the last chapter, sorry but I'm working on other things now

//much later into the night//

Man, that movie was SCARY. Man-eating zombies? Blood-sucking vampires? Both combined into two-headed monsters taking over the world?

Great, just great.

Too say Brett was spooked was an understatement.

His body was still rigid, tight against the couch. Shivers rang down his spine, even though the movie had already ended.

Why had they chosen this to watch again?

Brett's mind had practically spiraled into a mental monster world. All he could imagine were scenes from that movie. It was like The Shining but WORSE. Oh, much, much worse.

He could still recall how sure they had been that they could take it. "We can do it, man! We got this. We can't keep on being scaredy-cats!"

But now they wished they could just be scaredy-cats rather than watch that movie.

Brett shivered violently.

He felt movement beside him and gladly leaned into the arms that wrapped around him in a tight hug.

It took him a full five seconds for him to command his arms to hug back. Another sign that his brain wasn't working properly.

But thank god for Eddy.

This time, Eddy wasn't crying. Maybe his tear ducts were frozen. Brett's sure were.

He let out a shaky breath. The safest place to be in was definitely the bed. The only problem was how to get there.

Brett slowly pulled Eddy's arms off of him, resulting in a loud whine from the other one.

"Shhh," Brett whispered, keeping a hold on Eddy's hand as he carefully put one socked foot on the floor.

He froze, more terrifying thoughts flooding into his mind. What if there was a really skinny monster pressed underneath the couch?! What if it grabbed his leg and ate it??!

His leg seemed to have a mind of its own, leaping off the floor quickly and landing back on the couch.

This was not working.

He sighed. "Eddy?"

The answer was a short whimper.

"We have to get to the bed," Brett said slowly.

Eddy finally raised his head. "You'll stay with me?" His voice was so small and weak. How could Brett say no?

He sighed heavily and said, "Yes, I'll stay with you. But come on, it's like 1 AM. We have to go."

Eddy just nodded and they both fearfully made their way in the direction of the bathroom...oh no. The bathroom. Nothing but darkness was seen through the doorway of the bathroom, and let's just say DARKNESS was creepy after a horror movie.

Hmmm...

Well, they'd have to brush extra well in the morning, because Brett was NOT going in there. Nope.

Eddy didn't object as Brett dragged him to the taller one's bedroom.

"C'mon," Brett said, gently pushing Eddy to lay down on his bed. As he turned to leave, he heard Eddy call out, "Wait! You said you would stay!"

He stopped, hesitating. "With you, in the bed?"

"Please Brett, I...I'm kind of scared." The last words were so quiet, Brett could barely hear them.

He turned around. Eddy was already sitting on the bed, the blankets covering his lower half. He had already placed his glasses on the nightstand, and rubbed his eyes like a sleepy child.

Brett was a bit nervous of going all the way to his bedroom in the dark, with all of the invisible monsters, so he had to admit it was probably a better idea to stay here.

He first checked that there was nothing under the bed, and then climbed on slowly, trying to keep his bare feet from touching the side of the bed. He didn't want his foot to get eaten. [ehhe this is fun to write]

Only their arms were touching, but the mere presence of each other calmed their wild minds. As Brett took of his glasses and tried to find a comfortable position, their feet accidentally brushed under the covers.

Eddy snorted, "Our toes love each other." Brett could hear the smile in his voice, even though he couldn't see anything in the darkness.

Darkness...

No. Don't think about that. DON'T!

Eddy seemed to notice as Brett's breathing got slightly heavier. "You okay?"

"Yeah...just thinking of...that."

"It's okay, it was just a movie. We're safe now," Eddy said, sounding more like he was trying to convince himself.

Brett just nodded slightly. Eddy was there. He's right here, and nothing's going to happen, Brett thought while forcing himself to focus on Eddy's soft breathing.

Laying side by side under the white ceiling, the only sound was soft breathing. And then, "Thanks for staying."

"Of course, you know I'll do anything for you." And he meant it. He knew it was cheesy, but Eddy had been the only consistent person in his life. [guys idk if this is true irl but it is in here so don't complain lol] Girlfriends, fights with other people they knew, even his parents who wanted him to be what he didn't want to be!

But Eddy was always there.

I'm so lucky to have him...

Telling each other "I love you", sleeping out on the streets together, touring, the Tchaikovsky, every single moment.

He still remembered clearly, that time when they first met. "What grade are you in? Do you play violin? I do as well!"

Sparks flew and they instantly were best friends. They had so much in common, but were so different as well. However, all the differences seemed to contrast perfectly with each other, forming an amazing duo.

And that's how it always was.

That's how it's always been.

And that's how it always will be.

Side by side.

Always there.

💙

A/N: I genuinely do hope that if Brett or Eddy ever marry someone else that it will do nothing to disrupt their friendship in any way. Having a wife and family might stop them from spending as much time with each other, which almost makes me kind of sad. I want them to be happy but I also want their friendship to go on forever, without any cracks. All I can do is hope that Brett and Eddy will make the right choices to ensure their happiness.

(Also sorry if this seems rushed, it's my first fanfic, so...)
