Coltons pov
Honestly, Brooklyn's been scaring me recently. After everything that's happened, everything she's been through, I've been afraid she'll crack and break completely. That'll only happen if I let her kill Troy. I won't let him destroy her innocence. I fell in love with her because she's good and kind, not because I wanted to fix her or because I felt guilt for what my brother did to her. I love her. More than anything. Which means she's my one and only weakness, making me more afraid than I ever have been in my 28 years of life. When I left the gang years ago, it was after Troy had found me. He had drugged my drink, and I was stupid enough not to notice because he said he wanted to make amends. I never thought my kid brother would hurt me the way he did. But he'd always been jealous that Marcus favoured me over him. It still is that way.

He might be blood, but he's hurt her enough. I won't let him consume her thoughts anymore. I'd die before he lays another finger on.

"Baby, you've been staring out that window all day. Are you okay?" She wraps her arms around my neck from behind, resting her hands on my chest as we head the waves crash from the open window. I bring a hand up to hold hers, as my other hand brings the cigarette to my lips. "I'm fine baby" I blow the smoke out. "Just thinking is all." She kisses my ear, asking "what are you thinking about?" I chuckle as I kiss her hand, rubbing her knuckles with my fingers. "Just how lucky I am. To have you" she giggles before giving me one final kiss and leaves, heading back into the living room.

"Um... colt?" Her voice is shaky, catching my attention. I turn, squashing my cigarette beneath my boot, to find her staring out of the front window towards a black Ford Mustang and the lean man dressed in black beside it. "Stay inside" I command, opening the door. She grabs me from the elbow, and I turn to find fearful eyes begging me to stay inside. "It's going to be okay baby. Stay inside" I give her a sweet smile, trying to convince her. She smiles back, but I see straight through it. She's afraid. After all, it is one of Marcus's men waiting outside.

Shutting the door behind me, Leon walks up to me slowly. "Stay where you are. I don't want you near her Leon." He stops in his tracks, holding his hands up, palms open, shaking me he's not a threat. "What do you want?" He wipes his nose before he begins to speak. "I want Marcus gone." His words catch me off guard. "What? Don't act like you don't want the same thing" he says with a look of disgust. "Why?" Maybe it's a trick. "For some reason Colton, he favours you. He even let you kill four of his men just to get you to agree to do the job for him. But did you know he planned all of that?" I'm confused. Planned what? "What are you talking about?" He chuckles at my confusion, clearly finding amusement in it. "He did send those guys to beat her up. I heard him. He lied and told you that wasn't his plan to get you to trust him. But you know him Colton. He'd do anything to get you back. Because once you're back in... you can't kill him without consequence." It's true. Only an outsider can kill him. If it's one of his own, they're sentenced to death by the rest of the gang. It makes sense. "He's afraid of you Colton. You're the only one who has it in him to kill Marcus. But I know you don't want to. Because then you'll be tied to the gang forever. So I'm here to offer you a deal." Now he's got my attention. I lift my head to him, asking him to go on. "I'm no longer part of the gang. Ever since he let you kill the four who hurt her" he nods towards the house Brooklyn's in, "I left. He doesn't care about his own men when it comes to you. So, by gang law, I can kill him." It seems too easy. "What's in it for you?" He chuckles at my question. "Simple. I get to lead the gang and you come work for me when I call. In return, I'll take care of your brother too." Was he joking? The whole reason I wanted Marcus gone was to be rid of the gang once and for all. God, I can't catch a break. "No. I want to be left alone. Brooklyn and I don't want apart of it anymore." He chuckles as I begin to walk away. "Really? Because she seemed real eager to do the job of killing your brother for Marcus the other day."
