One cold winter, morning, Henry was not feeling well. He was ill.
"What's the matter, Henry?" asked his driver.
"I..I feel ill." moaned Henry. "I don't feel well."
Later that morning, Sir Topham Hatt came to see him.
"I feel ill, Sir." said Henry gloomily.
"In the case," said Sir Topham Hatt, "you will need to stay here and get some rest. I'll find someone to do your work."
Henry slowly rolled into his shed. He was looking forward to a nice long rest.
The engines were by busier than ever doing Henry's work.
Thomas and Percy took his Express train. They met James at a junction.
"This is aheavy train!" puffed Percy. "We
"I feel like my boiler will burst." panted thomas.
"I hope I don't have to take the Flying Kipper, tonight!" snorted James.
That night, they were all exhausted from a busy day's work. Henry was looking for a nice long rest until his driver came with bad news.
"Bad news, Henry." he said."Donald was going to take The Flying Kipper for you since you're ill, but he has to help Thomas on his branchline, while he's at Steamworks. So it's time to take it."
"Oh, no!" moaned Henry.
"I won't do it." said James, remembering the last time he took the Flying Kipper.
"It's too heavy." said Percy.
"What about Gordon?" said Henry.
He's helping Spencer on the mainline." said Percy.
"Do I have to?" said Henry sadly.
"I'm afraid so, old boy." said the driver. "There's no other available engine.
Henry sighed. He slowly and sadly left his shed.
"Oh, dear," he moaned. "Oh dear!"
Meanwhile, Edward was about to leave the shunting yards. Then, Sir Topham Hatt came to see him.
"Edward, I need you to help Henry with The Flying Kipper. Like, be his back engine."
"Yes, sir!" said Edward and headed to the Docks.

Meanwhile, at the Docks, Porter had finished shunting the vans in the train he could see Henry was looking miserable.
"What's the matter, Henry?"
before Henry could reply, he aw Edward chuff in
"Hello, Henry!" he puffed.
"Hello, Edward. What are you doing here?"
"Sir Topham Hatt sent me to help with The Flying Kipper."
Henry was happy. "Oh, thank you, Edward!"
Edward buffered up behind the train.
Finally, Cranky the Crane loaded the last load of fish. The conductor signaled to Henry's driver that it was safe to leave, then climbed in the brake van.
Henry and Edward blew their whistles and set off.
It was hard for Henry to puff on, but Edward worked hard. Their wheels kept slipping so Henry's driver had to put salt on the rails.
Finally, Edward and Henry went up Gordon's Hill.
Henry huffed and puffed. But the train was slowing down and Henry's wheels slipped on the icy rails.
"Edward, I'm slipping!" wailed Henry.
"You can do it, Henry!" Edward replied.
Henry did his best and finally made it to the top.
"Hurrah!" said Henry.
Then there was trouble. Henry had tried so hard, he broke his coupling rods.
"Oh no!" he cried. "What happened?"
The driver went to insepct him.
"You broke your coupling rods." he said.
"Oh, no!" moaned Henry. "Now what are we going to do?"
"Leave it me!" said Edward.
Henry's driver and fireman forgot Edward was helping.
"Edward," said the driver, "can you do it?"
"I'll do my best." said Edward bravely.
