Roxy's PoV

Rose turns to me, "Why did you insist on hunting with me?"

I shrug, "I'm tired of Edward constantly reading my mind."

She rolls her eyes, "We are all frustrated with Edward. What else is there?"

I sigh thinking about the real reason, the fact that I need to be at full strength to fight Victoria using my gift.
I turn to her, "If I went with Jazz he would have used this opportunity to try and talk me out of fighting. And Emmett would of teased me about Jasper."

She smiles, "Are you worried about the fight. I mean killing someone..it can leave an emotional scar...."

I lower my head in shame, "I know...."

Her eyes widen briefly, "What happened?"

"I had a run in with another vampire," I mumble, "Noticed my golden eyes taunted me with blood."

She scrunches up her eyebrows in disgust, "That's awful."

I fidget shifting my focus on the sounds of deer in the forest.

"You're not telling me something," Rose states, her hands pressed to her hips, "You knew them, didn't you?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," I mutter stepping forward.

Rose catches my arm, her eyes boring into mine, "The vampire. You knew who they were."

I blink slowly, "I did."

"Who was it?"

I sigh, "Look, Rose I'll tell you but now is not the time."

She nods noticing my defensive tone.

"We need to make it back before first light," I explain speeding off after a black bear roaming nearby.

I stand next to Jasper, the rustling of leaves and stomping growing louder and louder as the newborn army edges closer to us. Clenching my hand I take a deep breathe noting the smell of Bella's blood hidden around the forest in front of us.

"Wait..." Jasper whispers, he observes the treeline.

I glare hard at pale skin breaking through the bushes, rushing towards us.
