Chapter 7

{Izzah's POV}

He left but his words keeps roaming around my head.

"Mommy where did Alyan go?", Mom stared at me hearing his question. Did she really wished me to tell him to stay?

"He's gone, Arish. Back to his home", I answer.

"But why? He promised to get me the bike", he scowls.

"Arish, it's okay. I'll get you one", I try to calm him.

"No! It was his promise. I want a bike from him"

Mom pets his head and says, "Be a good boy. Stop being adamant" Mom gives me a 'you didn't do it right' look.

I don't know what they're blaming me for. I called Olivia to get an appointment with Dr. Steve on my behalf.

"Yes doctor, mom's alzheimer isn't getting any good. She keep forgetting about the surroundings sometimes I see her thinking by standing in one place for hours. She gets into her weird little zone which is awkward"

"So the medicines are not
working?

"Yeah it works for the time being. A few days ago she went missing. I really can't let her do that again"

"That's why I told you to pay attention to her. These kind of patients do these activities which might look bizarre to us"

"Should I keep a full-time nurse for her?"

"Look I'm not dementia specialist but I know what to do. I don't think hiring a nurse would be a good idea. You need someone more professional. Nurses can be slack off and we don't want that"

"What about an AEP?", Why did I ask this question?

"I didn't know you've a knowledge about this. I think it'll be great to appoint one"

"Are you sure?", So he can help her.

"Yeah you know they're professional and can help to keep your mom healthy. They know their job well but it might be difficult to find a personal AEP. Shall I help you find one?"

"Don't worry. I think I found one already. Actually mom found him", am I even serious?

"Oh that's wonderful" I'm unsure about this. So I place my phone on my ear, it's ringing and he answered,
"Hey, Izzah. How have you been?"

"Hey, Taahir. I'm doing fine. You say?"

"Alhamdulillah all good. It's been long since we spoke. I'm guessing something important"

"You got that right. I can't figure out one thing"

"What is it? Tell me how can I help you?"

"You know about mom. So there's this guy who helped her and now..." I told him all the details "so I'm wondering if it would be right to hire him for mom or not?"

"Izzah, you're really something. You actually did all that to him. I just realized how dangerous you are"

"Cut the crap! You always knew what I can do"

"I think hiring him would be a good decision. It can be your apology to him and your mom is benefited as well", as if I was going to apologise. I roll my eyes.

"Okay, so I guess I'm doing it", it's more like a question than a statement.

"Do it girl, I know you can"
