Scarlett was blissfully happy. Today was the day she was finally getting married. But she wasn't as happy as she should have been. Perhaps it was Tella's shadiness. Or maybe it was Legend's lack of energy, indicating something was truly wrong.
Whatever it was, Scarlett was not going to let it dampen her spirits. After all, the wedding was in five minutes.
A few minutes later, the ceremony started. Scarlett wore a crimson gown with a full golden skirt, and a gauzy golden veil over her crown. Julian was wearing a crimson tuxedo with specks of gold. They couldn't have looked more in harmony if they had tried.
Tella and Legend, on the other hand, looked like they were sworn enemies. They refused to look at each other and were quiet as mice. Funny, considering how schemish the two of them were together.
Scarlett couldn't help but think they were having problems. That was perfectly normal, but she sensed it went deeper than them just having an argument. She was thinking the worst.
All the vows were made, and everything was great. But it was getting so hard to ignore Legend's depressed attitude. She could see his emotions swirling around him in desaturated blues. Slowly, the blues changed to angry purples, rage, anger, hate. Hate. The only person who could bring on colors that strong.
As if on cue, Scarlett's gloves shot up her arms in bright red spikes. A warning. Sure enough, there was Jacks.
Everyone was already filing into the palace for the afterparty, but Jacks didn't move. Instead, he just stood there, licking blood from his lips. Of course.
Once everyone was gone, Jacks strode over to Scarlett. He said, "Great wedding, empress. Where's my love?"
Scarlett snarled at him. "She doesn't like you," she said.
"Are you sure about that?" Jacks responded.
All of a sudden, Scarlett started sputtering and coughing. Jacks was giving her a heart attack. "You know it's illegal to give the empress a heart attack," a voice growled. It was Legend.
Jacks let Scarlett go, and he stalked away. "I'm going to get him," Scarlett said.
Scarlett wanted to go warn Julian about Jacks, but she had another little errand to run first. She saw Tella sulking in a corner of the courtyard. She stormed straight past the row of seats and walked over to her.
"Tella, do you know why Jacks is here?" Scarlett asked.
Tella gave her a crisp smile before replying coolly, "Because I invited him."
This news wasn't all that surprising to Scarlett, but hearing the words straight out of Tella's mouth was a whole new type of thing.
"And why, may I ask, is that, Tella?" Scarlett asked.
Tella seemed to think about it before answering. "Is this an interrogation? Because I felt like it, okay, Scarlett?"
Scarlett was very taken aback by Tella's outbreak. "I'm just trying protect you," she said.
"From what?" Tella fired back as she walked away.
That was it. Scarlett was not going to accept that. She had been nothing but loving and kind since the day Tella was born, and this was how she repaid her.
Scarlett ran into the garden and screamed. A happy party-goer yelled with rage. Scarlett had lost control. She would not let anything happen, and she was going to make them all pay.

So yeah, basically Scarlett lost control of her powers in the end. I still have like 6 chapters I need to publish, and I didn't want to really type this today but I'm in the zone with actually writing the book and I don't want to fall too far behind :)
