Chapter 10

Three weeks have come and gone in a flash; our nights and days have fallen into a schedule of during the week days Luke and I work with Tyler accompanying me to the boys' group home and the nights and weekend we spend together as a family. Now today is that day that we make the adoption official; Tyler Judas Weston will become Tyler Lukus Carmichael. Mitchell, Paul, Mary, Monna and Natalia and Luke's family will be at the adoption and coming back to the house for a celebration lunch.

Luke's parents, Vance and Sonya Carmichael I haven't met in person but I have talked to them over the phone; his three older brothers I have never met or talked to and all of them live in different states than us. His brothers are Victor is 25 years old and he lives in California, Steven is 23 years old and lives in Washington and Carson is 21 years old and he lives in Colorado and their parents live in Oregon. When Luke graduated high school at 17 years old, he moved from Oregon to Wyoming to attend college for his two year certificate in management. I'm terrified to meet his family because if they don't like me, I'm afraid that they will try and convince Luke to leave the kids and I; leaving the three of us alone. Currently Luke is showering after me and he bathed Tyler as I dress our little one as I'm already dressed in a pair of black pants, socks and dress shoes with a long sleeve white shirt and Luke will be dressed similarly but he'll have a gray long sleeve shirt; as I'm dressing Ty in a pair of black pants, socks and Vans along with a long sleeve baby blue shirt.

"Papa why this?" Tyler whines pulling at his pants; whining a little not that I blame him.

"Because we have to look nice for today, we're meeting daddy's family and you're being adopted today!" I cheer trying to make him happy.

By 11:30 a.m. there is a loud confident knock on the front door causing my internally freak-out to become full blown panic attack to start. Luke takes a hand of mine in his as his other hand cups my cheek tenderly; "Everything will be fine. My family will love you since you and Tyler are their family too and just as I love the two of you; now go and fetch Ty from his room as I answer the door."

"Okay, I love you," I murmur nodding feeling much better as I walk to the steps to fetch Tyler as he answers the front door.

As I enter Tyler's bedroom to find him playing with his toys on the floor, his colorful blankie and his turtle in his lap, I can hear opening the door and greeting his family. "Hi baby, you need to come downstairs with me, daddy's family is here!"

"Otay papa," he answers leaving his toys behind except his turtle along with bringing his blankie as he comes over to me asking for me to carry him; I think he's nervous at meeting Luke's family, a feeling I totally understand.

Settling him on my him, exiting the bedroom and taking the stairs carefully with my son in my arms and my baby in my belly; entering the living room, since that's where everyone's voices are coming from, I feel as if we are entering the lion's den. When Tyler and I enter, everyone instantly stops talking to stare at us except Luke, who comes over to the two of us and wraps his arms gently around my middle and brings his front to my back as he holds us.

"Everyone I would like you to meet my beautiful boyfriend, Liam Quinn and our adorable son, Tyler," he introduces us to his family before he introduces us to his family. "Liam and Tyler this is our family; Vance and Sonya, my parents and my brothers, Victor, Steven and Carson."

"Hello," I murmur shyly with a small wave as Tyler gives them a small wave and smile.

Luke's mum steps forward so I hold my hand out that isn't holding Tyler to shake hands with her; I can feel Luke lightly laughing behind me, I wonder why? I find out when he mum wraps her arms around Tyler and I and pulls us into a motherly hug that has me wanting to break down in tears since I haven't been hugged by my own in about four years.
