ELAYNE and CHRISSY VAN RUSSELL-Cousins and BFFs

"OMG Chris, we have to skip school tomorrow," Elayne Van Russell stated, kicking off her shoes and laying across Chrissy's bed texting away on her phone.

"Why?" Chrissy smirked at her while she busied herself on her phone catching up on the latest celebrity gossip via Twitter.

"We have to go to the mall!"

"Why?"

"New clothes, duh! I have to show stupid Steffy," Elayne tossed her sandy blonde hair to mimic her. "Who's the boss bitch. She totally thinks she runs the school because she's a senior, and like, everyone knows I do."

"But I have a calculus test tomorrow so I can't skip. We'll just go to the mall on the weekend," Chrissy said, not looking up from insta-stalking her favorite celebs.

Elayne let out a big sigh, finished texting her crush, and rolled over on her back. Most times she could get her cousin slash her right hand to do anything she wanted. Lately, Chrissy never wanted to do anything exciting.

"Carter Daniels' big party is Saturday. I'll need all day to get ready for that," Elayne explained.

"Why? You're gorgeous! Like your mom. You don't have to worry about that."

"Well," Elayne said, pulling out her e-cig. "True, but as my deadbeat mom says, beauty takes time. Or in her case, costs a lot of money."

Elayne blew out smoke from her e-cig and gave her cousin a stare because she just didn't get it. "I have to get my hair done, mani and pedi, facial, massage, body wrap, spray-on tan-"

"Okay, okay, geez!" Chrissy was so glad she did not have to go through all that to look "naturally beautiful." She may not look like a top supermodel like her cousin, but she knew she was pretty.

Not as pretty as her mother she adored. Sasha made any guy she brought over salivate like a creeper. It hurt her so bad to see her male friends obsess over her mother. Sasha did nothing to play down her looks or dress age-appropriate for her friends.

Being that Sasha was Mexican, her big brown eyes and long, luxurious brown hair on her naturally tan skin made her irresistible to most. Chrissy thought of her mother as a younger, hotter Eva Longoria. It was too bad her only daughter inherited none of her good looks.

There was no trace of Mexican in Chrissy's appearance. Her hair was a dull, light brown full of curls, her eyes dull brown, and her skin so pale if she did not tan on a regular. Sometimes she wondered if she was truly Sasha's daughter or if she was adopted.

She sure felt like she was not related to her strange brother, who looked more Mexican than white.

"We have to get to the mall tomorrow." Elayne jumped out of the bed. She stopped smoking the e-cig and tossed it on the bed. She only smoked it because she thought it made her look cool. Now she felt she may low-key be addicted. "When's your test?"

"Third period."

"Cool. We can skip after that." Elayne flashed her a big smile. Then she saw the hesitation in Chrissy. "Oh come on, cuz, it'll be cool. You know I need my partner in crime. You're making like, mostly As anyway, what are a few missed classes?"

This was always her argument when she wanted to skip. Elayne barely held on to Cs and all the tutors her father hired to help were not making a dent. Probably because she kept sleeping with them.

Chrissy knew there was no hope of getting out of this escapade with her diabolical cousin. They were connected since birth, Chrissy being younger by one month. They both were seventeen but that ended their similarities. Elayne was more blonde, more pretty, and more outgoing. She had the prettiest blue eyes and had no problem getting dates.
