DONNA JACKSON-That Moment When...
After her brothers left, she sat and waited for more. For more to come to and despise her.
Who was next?
Her son?
Her best friend Sasha?
Or worse, Ethan himself.
But nobody came and she tried to get herself together. With little sleep, her head pounding from all the alcohol she drank last night, she did not go to work.
Tony never came home. She hoped he was safe and with one of his uncles. She hoped he did not go to that long-lost scumbag father. Could she deny Tony a chance to know his father if he wanted to?
She felt sick to her stomach.
She called off the rest of the week, even though she had lots of work to do. She didn't care. Let her brothers say something to her about it. They were always trying to be the boss of her.
She showered, washed her hair, put on a fluffy robe, and sat alone at her breakfast table eating toast. She missed her son. She missed cooking him breakfast. Was he at Antonio and Sasha's? Was she cooking him breakfast?
Yeah right, maybe the maid.
Was he with Quinton, at the ultimate bachelor's pad? Party nonstop.
She tried to call his phone but he would not answer. She called Antonio because she knew her son was extremely close with both her brothers, they had to know where he was.
"Baby sis."
She could tell her big brother was still pissed at her by his tone, but she ignored it. "Where's my son?"
"You don't know where your damn son is?"
"Just tell me where he is so I know he's safe."
"You care? I mean, lying to him all these years doesn't sound like mother of the year type shit."
"Where the hell is my son, Antonio?"
"School."
"Who did he stay the night with is what I'm asking?"
"Not at my house. Chrissy's there and I don't think she's ready to turn on the sisterly charm. He's at Q's."
It was a relief to hear he was okay. "Oh thank God! Thank you, thank you!"
"Whatever," Antonio said and hung up on her.
Maybe she could go down to the school and talk to him. He had to listen to her side of things, why she never told him who his father was. Whenever he asked, she lied and said that his father wanted nothing to do with them. It could be true, Ethan was a horrible father to the two he knew about, according to Sasha. Tony did not need that in his life.
Then there was a knock on the door. Who could that be? She peeped through the window at the tall, blonde-haired man and gasped. She was not ready for this.
"Oh, God!"
"I saw you look out the window, open this damn door!"
"No!"
He pounded at the door louder.
"I will stand out here and raise all kinds of hell."
Donna was not going to open that door and be face to face with the man she once loved nineteen years ago.
"Donna! Open this damn door!" he yelled, continuing to pound on it loudly. "I'm about to kick it down, move back."
Donna quickly undid the locks and opened the door.
