FALLON COLLINS

October 31, 2017

"Come one, Fally! It's going to be so fun!"

"Faith, I don't know... I'm not sure about it"

"You're being a flake, Fallon. No one's going to like you if you're this big of a party pooper. Just put on your costume so that we can be on our way"

I hesitate, looking down at the costume and then back at her, my head tilted to the side.

"I don't- I don't know, Faith"

She groans loudly, tilting her head back in frustration.

"Oh my god. You're so annoying sometimes! What's wrong with it?" She asks, snatching the costume from my hands and holding it out with her own to get a better look at it. The costume stands there, staring back at me.

I shrug, biting my lip.

"It's just- you're going as Chewbacca! It's cute!" She exclaims happily, handing the costume back to me with a push. I stumble back slightly at her force, struggling to gain my footing as my feet meet the bottom of her bed.

"Yeah, Faith, and you're going as Leia. Everyone is going to make fun of me" I state, looking back at the mask of the costume.

I really didn't like this. I mean, Faith had chosen this year's theme, and she'd decided who was going to be what. I had to say, I'd been a little disappointed when she'd told me that she was going as Leia and I was going as Chewbacca.

I couldn't complain though... last year had been my turn and I'd chosen Harry Potter. I'd been Luna Lovegood and Faith had been Hermione, and she hadn't actually complained about anything.

But it was her year to choose, so I guess she could do whatever she wanted and I'd just have to take it.

"That's nonsense! No one will make fun of you! Everyone will love it! Besides, Liam's going as Han-Solo, and you know how Chewey and Han get along in the movies!" She exclaims happily, clapping her hands together and twisting around to go towards her vanity.

I stared at her blankly, holding the costume limp in my hands.

She was already in her attire, one that she had been planning the past month. For Faith, this was the most important night of the year, so she made sure that it was perfect.

"Doesn't it seem weird to you?" I ask, a frown etched on my face.

"Weird what?" She asks, still looking at herself in the mirror.

"Well, that Liam's my boyfriend, but he's going as Han-Solo, and Leia and him are a couple" I explain, looking at her.

She rolls her eyes, applying lipstick on her lips ever so carefully. She takes her time doing so, not really caring that she's taking long to answer. Faith loved to keep me on my toes.

When she's done, sighs heavily, putting the lipstick wand back into the tube and then straightening herself before turning to me.

"Well, Liam's my best friend, and I'm the one who chose the theme this year" She shrugs, putting the lipstick in her bag. "Besides, everyone knows that you and him are together. It's no big deal"

I purse my lips.

She had a point. And Liam wasn't going to be with her, he was going to be with me, so at the end of the day it didn't really matter much.

"But hey, don't worry. It'll be a fun night. Just- give it a chance will you?" She asks, her brow furrowed as she walks over to me.

I hesitate for a moment before nodding in response, heaving out a half-excited sigh. She was right. It was one night, and we were going to have fun. Everyone would be far too drunk to even remember what I had gone as.

"Yeah, I guess you're right" I admit and she squeals, wrapping me in a tight hug and swinging me from side to side.

"I'm so happy right now Fally!! I love you I love you I love you" She giggles out, and I can't help but laugh with her.

She pulls back, making sure she adjusts her costume and then points to my own.

"Get dressed, and I'll meet you at the door, alright?"

"Yeah, I'll be there in a sec" I tell her, motioning to the door so that she can get going.

She nods, blowing me a kiss, grabbing her bag and keys and then finally leaving, leaving me alone in her room, only my thoughts to keep me company.

I eye the costume, cringing.

I hated it. I absolutely hated it.

But... it was Faith's Halloween. She would have been sad if I decided not to wear it.

Sometimes Faith could be a little hard to deal with, but at the end of the day she was my best friend, and my sister.

And I loved her unconditionally.

Groaning under my breath in defeat, I take the costume, grabbing it and pulling it towards Faith's bathroom.

I couldn't believe I was actually doing this.

I put one leg over the suit, and then the other, followed by my arms and then zipping it up all the way.

The mirror in front of me didn't like the view, and neither did I.

I looked... hairy.

The mask was practically glowing at me from beside the sink, wanting to be used.

Well, here goes nothing.

Without trying to think about it much, I grab the mask, pulling it over my head and then looking back at the mirror.

At least you couldn't know who was below the mask.

There was that, I guess.

When I get out of the room, Faith's on her phone.

Her face is morphed into an ugly scowl, and she seems to be angry; her fingers tapping endlessly on the screen of her phone.

I felt sorry for whomever it was on the other side.

I walk closer, clearing my throat to let her know I was ready.

Her head snaps up, her mouth turning from a frown into a big grin as she sees me.

"Fallon! You look perfect! The costume really fits your personality! You know Chewey is such a cutie!" She tells me, laughing, her tone bubbly and bright.

I know she meant it as a compliment, but part of me took it as an insult.

I brushed it off anyways. She was always like this, and whatever she said I know she didn't really mean it.

Then she turns around, grabbing the bottle of tequila and popping the lid off before taking a big swig.

I wince at her chugging the tequila, watching as she puts the bottle down and scowls, slightly gagging and then handing it to me.

I take it, hesitating for a moment. I didn't really like Tequila, it always gave me the worst hangovers.

When I don't take a swig she urges me on, tilting the tequila for me so that it pours on my mouth.

Nasty.

I take a few gulps before I put it down, shutting my eyes and coughing at the strong taste.

"That's my sis" Faith praises, taking the bottle back with a drunken look.

"We better have fun tonight" I warn. I didn't want to have dressed up for nothing.

She winks, a big dashing smile on her face.

"Oh Fally, you know we always do"
