"Emmaline!" Genevieve says my name loudly.
"What?" I ask snapping out of my hard stare at my plate.
"I'm glad you can hear! I've been saying your name for a minute straight! It's time to get to class," she says as everyone around me stands up. I've been stuck in my thoughts for a few minutes all about the question: "Why was Draco Malfoy looking at me?" Out of all the people in this bloody room? He's halfway across the room as well!
"Emmy! You're out of it again!" Luke says pulling my arm to stand up.
"Sorry! I guess, school has just came into my thoughts again," I say, looking for an excuse.
"Is it school, or is it the Yule Ball?" Jack jokes.
"Girls don't only think about royal balls and dates with boys Jack," I say back confidently.
"Ooo," a few of the boys add for extra effect.
"I know that," Jack says shaking his head.
"We must get to class," Tora says starting to walk down the hall and we all start to walk away from the table as well.
"I have Arithmancy first," Luke starts. "How about you?"
"Luke, we all have Arithmancy," I say with a smile as I look up at him.
"Well, looks like we can walk together then," he says with a smile.
"Looks like it," I say back with a nod of my head. We follow the huge crowd of all of the other students leaving the room as well.
"Well if it isn't the gay himself, Luke Bell," I hear behind us as we walk out of the Great Hall. We turn around to see Draco and his minions Crabbe and Goyle.
"Shut up Malfoy," Luke says back looking flustered.
"You're just always with girls, it's like you're one of them," Draco says.
"At least he has friends," I add, sticking up for Luke. "What do you have? Two boys that follow you around because they're scared?"
"Well, well, well, what do we have here? Chronicle can speak!" Draco says to Crabbe and Goyle. "Who would've known?"
"I would love to continue our chat Draco, but we can't be late to class. We have to rely on something other than our father to pass classes," I say to him before turning around and grabbing Lukes arm. I drag him around with me and we head through the hallways and the stairs to the Arithmancy classroom.
"Thanks for that, Emmy," Luke says as we walk through the halls.
"Of course, I always got your back Luke," I say with a big smile.
"And, I like girls by the way, I'm not... gay," he tells me and I sigh.
"I know that Luke! But if you did like boys, I wouldn't care!" I say with a smile.
"Okay, but I don't," he says.
"Okay," I say rolling my eyes playfully because he won't stop repeating himself. "Well, since you're a boy who likes girls, have you thought about who you're asking to the Yule Ball?"
"The Yule Ball? That's not for like three months," he says with a laugh.
"So... no?" I clarify as I get my books ready for class.
"No, of course! I probably won't ask anyone 'til November maybe," he says scratching his head.
"So you have thought about it," I say and he scoffs.
"I guess so," he shrugs and we enter the classroom. When I walk in, I feel Draco's stare at Luke and I but I refuse to look at him. I don't know why he chose to have a problem with us now, he's never bothered us (well me) before.
"Emmaline, sit," Genevieve says, calling my name as I walk closer to her table. Each fits two people per desk, and Tora and Fatima are sitting next to each other in front of the desk Genevieve is at.
"I will," I say as I walk in front of Luke and sit down next to Gen. Professor Vector was in the front of the classroom writing something on the board.
"Malfoy is staring at you hardcore," Gen whispers to me as I squirm in my chair to get comfortable.
"What do you me-?" I start to ask as I turn around and look over my shoulder to indeed see Draco glaring at me.
"He's like glaring," she says as I turn back around to face the front of the classroom.
"We had a not so friendly chat earlier when he insulted Luke," I explain.
"Your boyfriend, you mean," she corrects me with a grin on her face.
"Never," I say with a sigh as I shake my head. "Luke and I are just friends."
"Oh please, I see the way you two look at each other," she says while raising her eyebrows.
"Shut up," I say rolling my eyes playfully.
"Good morning students," Professor Vector says getting all of our attention. "Welcome to your first Arithmancy class of the year! I hope you all are prepared for what's to come this year, and ready to stay focused on what I'm teaching."
Professor is interrupted by the doors swinging open and quick footsteps on the floor. We all turn around to see Harry Potter and Ron Weasley run into class... late.
"Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, thank you so much for being such a great example of what not to do: show up to class late," Professor continues. They find their seats and I sigh as I turn my attention back onto Professor. She continues her lesson and as I take notes and learn, I can't help but feel eyes on me.
