"Malfoy?" I whisper into different bookshelves as I walk through the library. He told me to meet him here after dinner, so here I am but he's nowhere in sight. "I swear if you're going to scare me." After five more minutes of aimlessly walking through aisles of books, I give up and sit at a random table. "I can't believe him." I mean yeah, I know he's an arsehole but I would never think he would stand me up for working on a project together.
"Chronicle, I've been waiting for half an hour," Malfoy says, walking up to me. I look up at the boy and roll my eyes before looking back down at the book I was reading on muggles. "What's gotten your wand in a knot?" He sits down on the chair after turning it backwards.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" I scoff as I continue scrolling the pages for useful information.
"No need for the attitude," he adds.
"Malfoy, I've been looking for you for nearly twenty minutes! I thought you weren't- Nevermind. We need to start working," I interrupt myself and push a book in his direction. "Here, start this one." I then give him a piece of parchment and my quill. "Take notes of anything you find that's important."
"Quite aggressive, aren't you?" I look up from my book to see him wearing a stupidly cute grin.
"I have to be when I have a lousy partner like you," I comment, but it doesn't land as harsh as I meant it to and he notices. A small smile breaks upon my lips and he holds back his own before looking down at the book and opening it.
We sit in silence as we read our books and take notes. Occasionally, he'll ask if he should write certain information down, and I'll approve or not. Sometimes, just sometimes, he'll make a joke or a comment and we'll just smile at each other before continuing our research.
"So, same time tomorrow?" Malfoy asks as I get up from our hidden table in the back of the library about an hour and a half later.
"As long as you don't leave me wandering around again," I comment and he scoffs.
"Says you," he says back.
"Anyways..." I start as I put my bag round my shoulder. "We made a good team tonight, I think Burbage would be astonished at how little distractions came about."
"I guess you could say that," he smirks. "We did alright."
"My back hurts now though," I smile. "From carrying the whole workload."
"Ha, ha," he fake laughs and I chuckle at my own joke.
"I best be off, see ya Malfoy," I say, turning around and starting to walk away.
"Bye Emmaline," I hear him say and my cheeks turn red as I speed up my walking with a giggle.

"The Yule Ball, oh how I'm dreading it," Tora sighs as she sits down next to us three girls before Charms.
"Why? It's going to be so magical," Genevieve says with a sparkle in her eye.
"Yeah right, it's going to be a mare," Tora says and sets her head on her hand.
"If worst comes to worst Tora, I'll be your date," Fatima sighs as she looks across the room at Neville Longbottom.
"Erm, uh, what?" Tora asks, flustered and we all look at her confused. "I mean.. yeah that works fine."
"Alright?" Fatima says but it comes out as more of a question and she laughs.
"Okay, so I've decided that I'm going to plant a seed in Dean's head to inspire him to tell Neville and Harry to ask youse two to the ball," Genevieve turns towards Fatima and I excitedly. Fatima sits up as I slump.
