"Okay, there he is Emmaline," Genevieve whispers as we all walk out into the courtyard. Malfoy is sitting on a bench, talking to some other Slytherin, Marcus Flint. They're laughing, and I just realise that I've never seen Malfoy actually laugh. When he does, he seems normal. Like he's not the absolute worst person to be around, it makes me smile.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Fatima asks nudging me with her elbow.

"What are you talking about?" I ask back, shaking myself out of whatever trance Draco, I mean, Malfoy had on me.

"She likes him," Tora says in a sing-songy way.

"Shut up, no I don't!" I say annoyed, rolling my eyes. "I'll go do that stupid dare right now." I start to walk away from them and towards Malfoy and Flint.

"Don't make it seem too easy," Gen adds with a giggle. I turn around and give her eyes before continuing to walk towards Malfoy.

"Uh oh, someone's coming over," I hear Flint mutter to Malfoy in a high-pitched voice with a laugh.

"What do you want Chronicle?" Malfoy asks.

"I just wanted to chat to my project partner," I say as nice as I can, plastering a fake smile on my face.

"Well, I best be on my way," Flint says before leaving Malfoy and I alone. He looks at me and then walks right past.

"Seriously, what do you want?" Malfoy says, now clearly annoyed. I sit down next to him and look over at my friends clearly staring and whispering at us.

"I wanted to apologise," I tell him, looking back and making eye contact. "I have been ridiculously rude to you Malfoy. I don't even know you, so there's no reason on why I should be so cruel. So, I wanted to just say I'm sorry."

"Uh," is all he says. His eyes are showing how surprised he is. "Thank you?"

"Look, how about from now on, we become friends? I mean might as well if we're stuck in those partnerships all year," I tell him, still going along with this dare.

"What are you trying to do, Chronicle? Is this like some joke you think is funny?" He asks me, refusing to trust me.

"No, Malfoy. I don't dislike you," I tell him with the most fake reassuring smile I can give.

"Can't say the same," he says back, standing up and about to leave.

"Well, I'm glad we're partners for that project. It was nice getting to know you Draco," I add the last part to make it seem the most realistic it can. He seems shocked by it.

"Whatever," he says before walking away from me. He walks past the girls and gives them a look before turning back around at me and continuing to walk off.

"What was that about?" Fatima asks as they walk over to me.

"I don't know," I sigh. "He's such a little girl."

"Why was he angry?" Tora asks me.

"I have no clue," I tell her. "I was as nice as I could be to a prick like him."

"Well, you did the dare," Gen says with a weak smile, knowing that was hard.

"Great," I say sarcastically and then I stand up and walk away from them. I don't know why I'm angry either, it's just why is Malfoy like that? I was so nice to him, I did the dare, and for some reason I made it worst! Before I know it I'm outside the Hufflepuff House. Right down the hall is the Slytherin House, and for a split second I debate going down there and getting Malfoy to come out. What is bloody wrong with me?
