Why ( Kang Seulgi + Lee Taeyong)

Chapter 4 - Flutter

(Flashbacks are written in bold)

She was petting a cat.
Taeyong himself was an animal lover , seeing her pet a cat every so gently was a nice thing to see. Until something that he never imagined happened. Seulgi smiled . She lifted the small cat up and played with him....

"Aren't you so cute?" She said in a baby voice , a smile plastered over her face.
"Are you hungry ? Are you hungry? Should I get you something ?" Seulgi said babying the cat.
"Ok let's feed you today!" Seulgi said excited, ready to feed the cat.

Taeyong quickly moved out of the way before she could see him . She walked past and headed back to her house. He followed her and saw her remove a carton of milk from the fridge and pour it in a bowl. She petted and caressed the cats head with a smile as big as the sun , as he drank from the bowl. Taeyong was amazed. He couldn't believe it. The most amazing thing was how she managed her life. She hid everything from the world. She was cold for a reason , because no one was there to melt her. Innocent animals like cats made her smile . She also managed to study and keep her reputation at school and she also managed her friendships and proposals. And doing all that while still looking so beautiful and unreal. His heart fluttered. How could someone be so perfect? Who's imperfections also look so perfect?

He snapped out of his imagination when the cat mewed and jumped into Seulgi's lap. She hugged him and kissed his forehead.
"I'm going to have to let you go now, I hope you had fun and filled your stomach ! Bye kitty!" She said as she let the cat go still brimming with happiness.
As the cat disappeared into the night , her smile soon disappeared from her face too. Back to her usual face , Taeyong realized how she looked much better with a cheerful expression on her face . He wanted to see her smile. Now that he thought about it.. what was it that made her like this? His curiosity is something that couldn't be stopped . He went back to the bar where Doyoung was as she closed the door to her apartment.

"tY tRaCk mY mAn WhErE haVe YoU beEn ?!" Doyoung said clinging to Taeyong .
Taeyong chuckled and walked home with Doyoung on his back.

The mystery kept him awake all night. Why?. Why was she like this? Who did it to her? Why was she running away?
He decided to face her the next day.

Joohyun waited outside Seulgi's second apartment the next day , knowing she would be here. She discovered about it the first time she got to know about Seulgi's problem .

"How dare you ask me about your dad!? Don't you know I despise him!?" Her mom shouted.
"Don't I have a right to know?!" Seulgi said finally snapping back.
The noise of a slap echoed across the house.
"Is this how I have raised you ? To talk back to me!?" She scolded hand still in the air.
She slapped her once more. Punched her, kicked her .
"It will teach you a lesson! Now go and study before I make you!" She shouted looking down at a crying Seulgi. Her face red , elbows and knees scratched , wrists bleeding.
Joohyun didn't believe what she just saw . As soon as her mom was gone , she helped Seulgi get up.
They went to the second apartment.
Seulgi poured her heart out to Joohyun.

Her mom wasn't abusive since birth. When she was 4 her dad left them , with his company in her moms hands. She ran the company , feeling lonely and stressed , eventually releasing her frustration on Seulgi. Seulgi wanted to know about her dad. She had no memories of him , in fact she didn't have any memories until she was 4 years old. She doesn't remember what happened , and she would never find out because of her mom.

As Joohyun remembered this , shivers ran down her spine. She remembered that day , crystal clear , even though it was 7 years ago.
