Marceline’s POV:

The werewolf’s five nails traveled into my chest in a great speed, but time felt like it stopped for me as my body refused to move, I thought about Walter and how he treated me as if I was a royal princess during the time when I didn’t know that I actually was one, I thought about Damien’s calm behaviour and how he protected me even when I could handle myself, then my mind traveled to think about Zen and his bright behaviour and all the moments we shared together. All of this brought my tears up and the last thing I spoke in my mind was: ‘I’m sorry Walter, Damien and you...Zen,’ then I closed my eyes to welcome my doom. All of sudden, a roar was heard and a werewolf jumped through the big window crushing it into a million pieces then flew all the way to Radolf and pushed him away from me, I was shocked and so was Damien.

The two werewolves got on their feet and growled at each other but suddenly, a face of surprise appeared on Radolf’s wolf features as if he recognized the other werewolf’s identity, after a short moment, the two of them entered a cruel fight since they were both equal in shape and power, meanwhile, I moved away and went to Damien then watched the fight in front of us but I focused on the new werewolf and analyzed his features and I automatically recognized him and so did Damien, it was Zen.

However, due to Radolf’s previous wounds that were caused by Damien and me, he couldn’t keep up for too long and ended up being defeated by Zen when he stabbed him in the chest, the red-furred werewolf collapsed on the ground with a small thud and started returning to his human form as he refused to scream in great agony due to what seemed to be his pride, Zen returned to his human form as well then stood ahead of the man and stared at him; he also had a few wounds as I could see. Damien and I got up and started walking towards Zen who was holding a sad look on his face while staring at the werewolf.

“Zen?” I called him, but my eyes widened in shock when he looked at me with a sad smile, before he collapsed down with a severe, big wound in his stomach that I had failed to notice.

“Zen!” I gasped and ran towards him as Damien did the same, I checked his pulse and breathing and he was fortunately still breathing.

“I will carry him on my back. We need to hurry,” Damien said as I nodded and helped getting Zen placed on Damien’s back who groaned in pain, the black-haired man got up and went towards the window but before I could go, I heard a laugh behind me so I turned around to look at the slowly dying man.

“You are just stupid bats to save a wolf,” Radolf said and laughed causing him to cough out blood, but I ignored him and was about to walk away when he spoke again.

“I recognize you. You are the bats’ princess and that ring belongs to your mother,” I was shocked as stared at him with widened eyes and parted lips.

“I killed her when she was trying to do what I thought to defend herself but that foolish weak bat was in fact luring us away from you,” he said again which led my eyes to turn grey, my fists to ball and my teeth to clench as anger clouded my mind.

“HOW DARE YOU?!” My nails turned sharp and I dashed them right to his heart, stabbing him over and over again.

“Marceline! We have to go!” Damien shouted as he waited for me by the window. I finally stopped and could hear noise coming from outside the doors which I assumed were the other werewolves. So I ran towards Damien by the time the doors were opened and we jumped down then headed outside the castle and towards the forest, and as soon as we had been out the castle, I looked at Zen with a frown.

“We have to run as fast as possible or he won’t make it,” said Damien as he noticed my worried face and Zen’s bleeding wound so I nodded and we traveled rapidly through the trees, even though we were injured and tired we had to overflow our limits and make it back to the village in one day rather than two. After what felt like eternity which was only a couple of hours, the sun started to shine by the time we could see a faint magical barrier and some houses. I couldn’t help a smile from drawing itself on my face, me and Damien could see that some people were already up as we hurried towards the village but we were stopped by the barrier.
