Clyde sat at his desk as he was looking through some papers, Marceline had gotten back her throne and kingdom but the danger did not reduce any less, he thought about how many men were willing to marry her for their own benefits and if Marceline had ever chosen the wrong man, it would cause dire consequences. Someone had knocked on his door as Marceline appeared from the doorway. He smiled at her and mentioned for her to sit on the couch; he took two cups of hot tea before handing her one then he sat across her.
“I was told that you wanted to discuss something important with me, uncle Clyde,” she said while sipping her tea and earned a nod from the man in front of her.
“Indeed, you know I suspect that the man from the day of the ceremony may be Vladamir. He is definitely not the only man who wants to marry you for the sake of being king, so I’ve been thinking that you should marry the right man as soon as possible,” he explained as Marceline’s eyes widened in shock as she almost choked on her tea then she stayed quiet sinking in her thoughts.
“Marceline?” Her uncle’s voice brought her out of her thoughts as she looked at him, “Yes uncle Clyde?”
“Is there anyone on your mind? You know that you can tell me,” he said but could see the hesitation in her hazel eyes. She played with her thumbs for a few minutes before looking at him again.
“N-No, there is no one in my mind,” she stuttered out then stood up, “If you excuse me uncle Clyde, I will leave now.”
“I’ve talked to Damien about this, and I believe he will be the perfect partner for you,” her uncle suddenly said, making her stop in her tracks, she wanted to object but she knew that her objections may lead to some unwanted results, so she kept her mouth shut and left the room without a word. She was storming towards her room when she passed by Silia who looked at her with concern.
Marceline sat on her bed and let out a deep sigh as she tried to calm her nerves which made her rest her head in her palms, her door opened but she didn’t bother checking who entered. The weight of the space beside her turned heavy as someone sat next to her.
“Marceline? Are you okay?” A sweet voice asked with worry audible in it as a hand was placed on her shoulder.
“Leave me alone. I’m okay Silia,” Marceline responded, but the young woman beside her decided to ignore that and comfort her best friend.
“Marceline you can trust me on anything, I’ll help you with pleasure,” Silia said as the light-brown-haired woman took her head off her hands to reveal her face full of despair.
“My uncle wants me to marry Damien,” she said as the body of the pink-haired woman tensed. After mere seconds of silence, Silia smiled at Marceline and said, “I will try to convince Sir Clyde to change his mind,” Marceline gazed at the woman next to her and she could see a broken look behind her comforting smile, she returned the smile and hugged her.
“Thank you Silia. I appreciate it,” Marceline said as she felt Silia return the hug, and then after Silia had left, Marceline went to finish some duties for the whole day.
Night dropped down turning the sky into a dark blue colour as clouds covered the moon above, Marceline was working on some paperwork at her desk when her bedroom’s door was knocked interrupting her work. She got up and went to open the door as she smiled slightly at the man in front of her.
“Come in,” she whispered as she gave space to the dark-blue-haired man to enter, he smiled at her and went inside leaving her to close the door behind him. His eyes traveled around the room and noticed the bunch of paper on her desk.
