When dealing with the aftermath of a break up the one thing you want to do is get over it. When trying to get over it, you want to come up with a solution that will help, as fast as humanly possible.

What's a potential cure? Distractions, countless distractions, as many distractions as one can think of. At least, that's the only sensible idea that Rebecca could come up with while she laid in her bed. Thoughts of possible distractions constantly flooded her mind as she continued staring up at her smooth, white ceiling. The more she stared at it the more she felt it correlated with her life, boring. Not a scratch, stain, or any evidence of excitement, just plain.

The more she thought of ideas, the more uninterested in them she became. She wanted to do something spontaneous and unique, and all that could come to mind were boring and predictable post-breakup distractions that you would see in cheesy romance movies. Rebecca really wasn't interested in sitting on the couch curled up in a ball, eating an entire tub of ice cream in one sitting, balling her eyes out, as she watches movies about love while feeling sorry for herself.

Rebecca heard her phone ringing on her bedside table and slowly sat up, making her way over to it. She noticed Joe was calling her and she picked up. "Hey Joe, what's going on?"

"Just making sure to check in and see how you're doing," Joe responded with a genuine tone in his voice.

Rebecca smiled and laid back on her bed as she continued the conversation. "I'm as good as I can be, I guess. But seriously, I'm fine Joe, you really don't have to keep checking up on me."

Joe ran his hand through his hair and sat down on Colby's couch, "It's my job to check on you. I know you're stubborn, it's okay to not be fine."

Rebecca knew he was right, but before she responded she began hearing yelling and bickering in the background and immediately became curious, "Where are you?"

"I'm at Colby's place, Jon's here too." Rebecca could hear Jon and Colby saying hello to her in the background and immediately knew they're were hanging out and watching Football together.

"Joe! Don't let me interrupt!" Rebecca didn't want to come off as needy and codependent, especially now.

Joe shook his head, "You aren't, plus Colby says you should come over and hang out to get your mind off of things."

As much as Rebecca wanted a distraction, she didn't want to invade the guy's hangout time. "No, I can't do that to you guys. I'll be fine by myself."

Rebecca heard some talking and shuffling on the other side of the phone, "Becca, please come over."

She immediately recognized Colby's voice and sat up, "I seriously don't want to intrude Colby. I'll just text the girls and see what they're doing." Truth be told, she enjoyed hanging out with the guys more than the girls. When she was with the guys everything was more laid back and calm, she loved the girls just as much but sometimes they had a tendency of being overwhelming.

Colby shook his head as he took a quick sip of his beer, "Rebecca Quin, if you don't get down here right now, all three of us will come to kidnap you and bring you here ourselves."

After Colby tried to sound as intimidating as possible, Jon spoke up from the background, "Speak for yourselves! The quicker she gets here, the less pizza I'm gonna get!"

Laughter took over both ends of the phone and Rebecca decided that hanging out with people who actually care about her couldn't do her any harm. While trying to talk through laughter, she tried to recompose herself, "I'll be over in 20 minutes." She quickly hung up the phone, slipped it in her pocket and grabbed her car keys. She went to her front door and left after putting on her shoes and a light jacket.

Rebecca pulled into the driveway and parked her car. She made her way to the front door, reaching through her pockets for the spare key Colby had given each of his closest friends. She opened the door and made her way over to the living room. Joe was sitting on a leather armchair and looked as if he had been waiting for Rebecca the entire time. When he saw her he quickly made his way over to her and surrounded her with his arms, Rebecca hugged back feeling nothing but peace.

"How are you?" He whispered into her ear as he moved his hands onto her shoulders, breaking from the hug while staring into her eyes looking for any indications of a lie.

"Joe, I promise you, I'm fine." Rebecca knew that no matter what, Joe would always be super overprotective. Although it's a constant thing, it's more evident when anything bad happens, but she never got tired of it.

"Take as much time as you need over there!" Jon yelled from across the room, "More pizza for me!"

Rebecca shook her head and laughed as she made her way over to Jon. Jon moved from the table, gave her a sympathetic smile and a tight hug. He then went and moved to whisper in her ear. "Just give me the word and I'll go beat his ass." Rebecca gave a slight nod and Jon began purposely messing up her hair with his hand as they separated from the hug. Rebecca playfully hit his arm and fixed her hair.

Rebecca looked around the room and saw Colby patiently waiting for his turn by the couch. She made her way over to him and they both had smiles plastered on their faces when they made eye contact. Colby wrapped his arms around her and she melted in his warmth and comfort. When they separated, he grabbed a beer bottle off of the side table and handed it to her, "Thank you for coming." he whispered with a grateful smile. Rebecca smiled as she nodded, and gave him another quick hug before moving to the couch. Even though Rebecca wasn't big on Football, she appreciated the distraction and effort the guys were putting in.

After a while, Rebecca remembered that she had promised Pamela a photo album for a vacation she recently took. It was printed and ready, all that was left for Rebecca to do was bring it to her. Colby lived in an extremely large house considering it was only for him, so he was nice enough to lend a room to each one of his friends for whatever they needed. Since Rebecca's apartment was fairly small she decided to use this as her photography room and she would often do her work in it.

"I'm going to quickly grab Pam's vacation album from my room. I'll be right back." Rebecca stood up, making her way to the stairs.

The guys nodded and responded, going back to watching Football as Rebecca went upstairs. She reached her room's door and opened it, immediately her eyes went wide as the beer bottle she was holding slipped from her hand and crashed on the floor, filling the house with the excruciating sound of glass shattering.

"Becca, are you okay?" Colby called out, after hearing no response he quickly sat up looking over at Jon and Joe in confusion. Joe looked concerned and Jon let out a slow, unsure shrug. Colby swiftly ran upstairs with the other two following closely behind. When they reached the top of the staircase, they looked down the hall and saw Rebecca staring blankly into the room unmoving, standing with the spilt beer and shattered glass beneath her.

"Rebecca. What's going on?" Colby tried not to let the worry that was flowing through him seep into his words. When he took a step towards Rebecca, her head shot towards his direction and she made direct eye contact with him. He saw her blank expression but felt her gaze piercing into him, Colby only then noticed her tear filled eyes and shallow breathing.

They quickly made their way over to her and helped her away from the mess on the floor, as their eyes wandered into the room they finally saw what the issue was and understood Rebecca's bleakness. Joe immediately turned to Rebecca with sadness in his eyes, Jon began angrily pacing up and down the hall mumbling, and Colby stood still, consumed by rage.

"I'm leaving," Rebecca spoke with no emotion as she tried to move past the guys.

"To go where?" Colby replied calmly while holding her in place, hiding his rage for her sake.

She looked at him in tears, "Anywhere but here." Her voice cracked when she spoke, as her knees gave out from beneath her, and she crashed onto the ground crying.

Everything that she was trying so hard to hold in, was finally let out.
