Chapter 10

Sitting at the table, I wait for Joel to say his peace give me the whole "it's not you it's me" line. I don't think I can bare it, the thought of it. I can hear him shuffling around behind me he's probably trying to figure out if it will be easier to break my heart sitting down or standing up!

"Katie, I want to talk to you about something" "we'll no shit Sherlock " I said to myself! Iv been spending a lot of time here and I guess you could say I'm practically living here with you, and well I'm wondering how you'd feel about making it official?? Joel said slowly, "that's it?? That is your big talk??? You scared me to death! "baby I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you, but no that's not all I wanted to talk to you about" Joel told Katelyn all about Lucy and Lorraine his ex and about what happened at the hospital .

"So what you think? It's not like she'd be staying in the house for long , it's just till Lucy is better and they are back on their feet. I feel as thought I should help them, Katie????

"I need time to think! And jumped up from my seat almost running out the front door, if I was still living at home I'd be straight over to Maeve's house, crying on her shoulder - her telling me to pull myself together "he's only a man" she'd say "not worth your tears and heartache" and as always she'd be right, but this time it's different Joel hasn't cheated on me, or called me horrible names or made fun of me no my Joel was different a real man supportive and loving, strong and caring he loves and adores me more than his own life. All this considered I just couldn't understand why the hell he would want to move his ex and her brat into his house next door to us! And why is he so bothered by her after the way she treated him, she practically pissed away every cent she stole from him including the car, it just doesn't make sense. I don't know if I can bare the thought of her being so close to us- so close to HIM

I don't know how far I'd walked or even how long I was out, it had gotten dark so fast I don't know where I am. Walking down an unfamiliar road I reached into my pocket to get my phone it wasn't there dam it must have left it back at the house. Cold and tired I sit on the ground my back against a tall tree, suddenly I see lights in the distance , at long last there's life in this dead end place it drove past then came to an abrupt halt ! The passenger door opened "Get in" shouted a husky voice, scared I ran the opposite way praying he would drive off and leave . I can't see where I'm going there's fog everywhere, I run out on to the road straight into the lights of an oncoming car
