Chapter 11

"Shit! I shouldn't have left her go like that not when she was so upset, she's gone an hour and it's getting dark out. Joel decides he's waited long enough he rings her mobile "ring ring" what the hell?? The phone is on the table Katelyn must have left it there when we were talking. I wish I hadn't told her about Lorraine and Lucy being given an eviction notice and now with Lucy so sick in hospital this is the last thing they need!  

Joel got into the x5 and headed off to get Katie and bring her home.  

It was dark now and freezing cold he battled through the blinding fog to get his Katie. He raced down every road he came to but still no sign "where the hell is she??? Why couldn't we live in the city or a town, no we had to live in the back end of nowhere a poor excuse of a village - it doesn't even have a shop or a pub or a cafe for my Katie to go from on this cold dark night.

Driving down a dusty road i see something in the distance cant quiet make it out, but there is a car ahead too seems to be stopped in the road. a shadow ran in front of the x5, slam on the breaks what ever it was i don't think i hit it, unbuckling my seat belt i slowly open the door and step out slowly as i walk around the front of the jeep there standing in the headlights is a woman, "Are you OK? I asked, slowly her head lifts up to face me "Katelyn! baby what happen are you OK iv been looking for you for hours.The screeching of breaks caused me to look back over my shoulder to see the other car take off, "Who is that Kate?? did you know them??her face is white with fear..... It doesn't matter lets just get you home. i put Kate into the car carefully wrapping a blanket around her to keep her warm hopefully stop her from going into shock, and head home fast what ever happened to her she is trembling with fear.  

At last we reach home, Katie is still shaking. I jump from the car and rush over to the passenger side and lift out Katelyn. I opened the front door and lift her up into my arms bridal style and take her to her bedroom. Her head nestled into my neck I can feel her fear leaving her weary body at last. I lay her gently down on to the bed she is sleeping now. Pulling the blankets over her i gently lay down beside her and try to sleep.

The next day.....,

I awoke to find myself still in the same clothes from the day before. My head hurts and im feeling nausous the more i try to lift myself up the more gravity fights me. Images from the night before race through my mind, it was a really dumb idea to go for a walk in a place i dont even know yet no doubt Joel is pissed at me i guess i cant blame him anything could have happend if he didnt come along when he did.

Slowly the bedroom door started to open, Joel peeped inside he most likely thought i was still sleeping. "Hi" i said, "Hey there beautiful, i was just going to call you" he said with a long tray in his hands full of food. Coffee, fruit salad, yogurt and some croissant's seriously arent i big enough already! "Baby, sigh... I shouldnt have expected you to just say ok to the whole Lorraine and lucy thing i'm sorry, i just feel responsible for them" Just the mention of her name made my blood boil, i got out of bed and headed towards the bathroom "i'm going for a shower and I have to drop by the hospital this morning so i'l grab breakfast there" i said in a stern voice. Locking the batroom door behind me i could hear Joel pacing up and down he was angry but damn it so was i, after everything i went through lastnight to get the him bringing her up again did he some how forget she was the reason i left in the first place, what is it about her and her kid that he is so facinated with! and then it hit me finally it's not her , its her kid Lucy  she must be why else go to so much trouble its all starting to make sense now.
