My old room. The room that was filled with my childhood toys.
"Lia? Lets go back outside now," Anthony whispers.
"No. I'll have to g-go if we go back outside." I wepted. "I'd rather stay here."
"Here? In a room caked in dust?" Ian asks.
"Yes." I said, looking down at the book I am holding. "This- This house. This house was where I grew up for the first two years of my life." I put the book back on the bookshelf.
"What? So, we've been hiding in your house whenever we got into trouble for the past year?" Anthony exclaims. I nod. The bookshelf is filled with fairy tales and some of Roberts old books. I run my hand over the spines of them.
"There is one thing I want to see before we leave." I say. I walked past the boys and into my brothers old room. I took a breath before entering. The first thing I see, is pictures I drew for him stuck on the wall. I run out of the house. This was too much.
I walked out onto the road to cross.
*3rd Person POV*
As Lia stepped out onto the road, a car came roaring up. As the car drew closer, Lia turned round as it was too late. The drunken driver had knocked Lia out cold. Her motionless body layed on the floor of the road. Running out of the house, Anthony ran out to where Lia's body layed. Feeling around in his pocket, he remembered he left his phone on the coffee table at home.
"Ian! Do you have your phone on you?" Anthony shouted. Ian, who was currently running out of the house, pulled his cell out of his pocket and gave it to Anthony. He typed 911 onto the dialer.
The phone rang a couple of times before a voice came up, saying the amount of credit is too low to make any calls.
"Shit.. You have no credit left. What are we gonna do?" Anthony asked.
"What about Lia's phone?" Ian replied. Anthony grabbed Lia's phone out of her jumper pocket and dialed 911.
"Hello, yes. Yes. No. Yes. Thank you." Anthony spoke into the phone.
"Ambulance coming?" Ian asked.
"Yeah. But I'm going to have to tell mom. Nice knowing you!" Anthony replied sarcasticly. He got up and lookes around to see if his mom was in walking distance. He heard sirens and saw the ambulance coming towards them. The ambulance pulled up on the side and three paramedics got out.
"Do you boys have anyway of contacting this girls mom?" One said as another two put Lia onto a stretcher and into the back of the ambulance.
Anthony glaced down at the phone. He dialed his mom's number and put it on speaker.
"Lia? Where are you?"
"Hi mom. Urm. Lia has been hurt. I've phoned for the ambulance to come and we need you to escort her apparently." He spoke into the phone.
The phoneline went dead, and a silence came between the three people. A few moments later, a car pulled out and out stepped Mrs Padilla, waving her arms around in shock. Lia and Mrs Padilla took a ride in the ambulance and left Ian and Anthony standing alone, speechless.
Anthony's POV.
"Thanks for letting us, the eyewitnesses tell you the story!" I yell sarcasticly as the ambulance drove away.
"How far is the hosptial from here?" I ask. Ian shrugs.
"We could try to ring up my mom to pick us up once shes at the hospital." I suggest.
"Whats she gonna walk here?" Ian replies. Damn. Why are there always flaws in my plans. We decide to walk back to my house and wait. Hopefully mom will be back soon.
"Why can't we phone up your mom?" I ask.
"Shopping" Ian replies bluntly.
We walk back to my house and wait for a while. We got home at 12:30 and waited.
1:00 passed. No phone calls or anything.
3:00 passed. Nothing.
5:00 passed. Still nothing.
"I have to go now dude. I could see if you could come back with me. If I had any credit..." Ian sighed.
"Its alright. See you tomorrow maybe. If not I'll see you at school." I say. Ian goes and I'm left alone. I pick up my phone and dial moms number. I press dial and wait.
"Hello? Who is this?" A voice said.
"Anthony. Who's this?" I reply.
"Doctor Web."
"Do you know where my mom is?" I ask. Dumb question really.
"Yes. She is currently in the X-ray room with Lia. Do you need her?"
"Could I speak to her please?"
"Wait one minute." The line goes quiet for a moment until my mom speaks.
"Anthony? Where are you?" She askes
"Oh at home. By myself. Alone."
"You could of came here."
"How?! You went off without me!" I shout.
"I never did. You chose not to co-"
"No. I had no choice. You didn't ask if I could come with you to the hospital!" I interrupt.
"Anthony honey. I'll be home soon okay?"
"Fine." I said and hung up.
I walk over to the kitchen to get something to eat. I put some bread in the toaster.
'Atleast she isn't gone' the voice in my head tells me. The burnt toast pops up and I stare at it, hoping the blackness will dissapear. It doesn't unfourtunatly, and I bin it. Wasteful, I know. But who likes burnt toast?
I hear the front door open and see mom standing there.
"Hi." I say bluntly. She starts crying.
"Whats wrong?" I ask.
"Lia is unconscious and the doctors predict that she won't wake up for 4-5 weeks." She wept. I stand there speechless. 4-5 weeks without Lia?!
"The hosptial doesn't allow visitors on Sunday, but maybe we could go after school on Monday?" Mom assures. She'll forget. She normally does. I nod.
After dinner I walk upstairs to my room. Too many things have happened today. I lie down on my bed and fall asleep.
Next Day (Sunday! :3)
I wake up and groan. I still have to complete my history essay, plan for my art essay and clean my room. And I wanted to tell Ian something, which I'll forget tomorrow. I run downstairs, grab a handful of cereal and walk to my schoolbag. I pull out my history book and sit down and the dining table and start writing about history.
After half an hour of writing, I make a start on planning my art essay.
I don't realise I fell alsleep until mom was yelling at me. I ditch my homework and go to bed. Why do I feel so tired lately?
