Feelings You Leave (HotchxReid)

Tears

Spencer stares, shocked at what he witnessed. His boyfriend, dead infront of him, his killer falling to the ground after Hotch shoots him.

"I'm so sorry," Spencer cries, rushing over to Riley's limp body.

Guns can be heard putting away and footsteps can be heard leaving the room as Spencer cries on his dead boyfriend.

"I'm so, so sorry," Spencer whispers, his voice croaking.

The phone in his pocket hangs up as Penelope cries on the other end of it.

Spencer stays there for what feels like hours before the bodies are carried away and Morgan takes Spencer home in Spencer's car.

They drive in silence to his apartment.

"Reid, do you need someone to stay with you? I'll be more than happy too," Derek asks and Spencer shakes his head getting out of the car.

"No. I want to be alone for a while," Spencer says and before Derek can answer, Spencer slams the door shut and rushes to his apartment.

Hotch texts Reid saying, "Take all the time you need. You aren't allowed on cases for at least two months. Be safe."

Spencer looks at the leftover takeout on the table and Spencer throws off his coat and cries on his apartment floor.

In the morning, Spencer wakes up to buzzing on his phone and looks at it. It's a call from J.J.

He declines it and he puts his phone on silent, looking at the wallpaper of him and Riley in the background.

Spencer throws his phone and cries again. Tears keep rolling and Spencer lets out ugly cries as he throws his books off the bookshelves, the leftover takeout is thrown in the trash and Spencer breaks down some more.

Two months later---

Spencer gets a knock on his door and he opens it to find Penelope and J.J.

"Hey," he says.

"Hey, how are you doing?" Penelope says hugging him and J.J. after her.

"Fine. Grief counselling is almost over and I should be able to work now," Spencer says.

"Good, Spencer. We missed you at the BAU especially since you cut us off for the first month," J.J. says and Spencer doesn't respond.

"Moving on, we came down here to drive you to work. You aren't going to have to work or anything, just see everybody again," Penelope says.

"Fine. Let me get dressed," Spencer says and rushes on some clothes.

They get in their cars, Reid getting in Penelope's, and going to the Bureau.

Reid reaches the sixth floor with Penelope and J.J. and immediatly gets stares.

They walk through the glass doors and the rest of the team's faces light up when they see Reid.

"Hey, Pretty Boy. You doing good?" Morgan asks.

"We all missed you, kid," Rossi says.

Emily hugs Reid and Hotch comes out of his office.

"I'm doing fine and I missed you guys too," Reid says.

"Reid, when you get a chance, see me in my office," Hotch says from the stairs and Reid nods.

"We can talk later, Reid, go see Hotch," Morgan says and Reid nods. Spencer heads to Hotch's office.

"Yeah, Hotch?" Reid says and Hotch looks up from his paper. Reid shuts the door and sits down.

"Are you ready to join the Bureau again?" Hotch says.
