"He has brain swelling, we are keeping him in an induced coma until the swelling reduces, we are not sure exactly what the damages could be as of right now, we handled the fracture on the skull, now it's up to his body and himself to see where we are"

Gulf bit his lip.

"If anything, what could be something we could expect?" Bright asked. He had arrived with Win earlier and had helped Zee settle both Boat and Saint a bit.

"It depends, he could have some long lasting damage, or he could be perfectly fine, we stopped the hemorrhage in time, but unless he wakes up we won't really know, his scans show brain activity is regular, let's hope he wakes up with just a headache and nothing else" the doctor nodded his head and stepped out of the room.

Mew walked in and made his way towards Gulf. He sat next to him and grabbed his hand "I've requested 24hr protection for Mild. He is our only witness to the Black Rose case"

Gulf smiled at him and squeezed his hand.

Bright tensed, when had they gotten so close? And why was Kana allowing him to hold his hand so easily.

"I'll stay here for tonight" Saint said in a hushed tone.

Boat immediately shook his head "No, I am" he looked at Saint "Please... I can't leave his side right now" Saint smiled at him and nodded.

"Saint you can't stay at your place" Gulf said "whoever this person is knows us, all of us, and we can't give him the opportunity to harm any of us anymore"

"Saint can stay with me" Zee said quickly before Saint could refuse "I have the security system and I'm always armed" he looked at Saint fondly caressing his cheek "No one touches what's mine"

"Gulf you can stay with me" Bright said standing up

Gulf shook his head "No, I'll stay at my own place, I have the security system installed already"

"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! EVEN WITH THE SYSTEM HE WALKED IN LIKE HE OWNED THE PLACE!" Saint yelled tears running down his face. Zee grabbed him and pulled him in.

"Gulf will stay with me" Mew said in a definite tone.

Gulf turned to him

Bright took a step towards him "Why would he stay with you a stranger? When he can stay with me his best friend"

Mew took a step forward "Because I have a safe place, because I have the means to keep him safe, I'm a detective remember, and because I love him and I won't let anything happen to him"

Bright widened his eyes at the statement "You what?"

"Stop" Gulf said halting both of them.

"Bright, thank you but I'll stay with Mew, we need to talk about the case anyways"

Bright felt like he had been punched in the gut, Mew had said he love him and Gulf was still willing to stay with him regardless, he looked at Mew again, he had walked back to Gulf's side and was looking at him fondly, he looked down and realized they were holding hands

"I also don't want to put you in danger, you know I love you with all my heart, you're my brother just like Mild and Saint and I really can't risk loosing you" yes, Gulf was looking at him with love in his eyes but not the love Bright wanted, he never saw him as anything more than a brother he realized. Bright tried to swallow the knot on his throat, he suddenly felt a arm wrap around his and turned to see Win smiling softly at him.

"Thank you Gulf, please let us know if you guys need anything and if there is any changes with Mild. We'll stop by again later, it's late we should all start heading home" Win said smiling. He saw the pain in Bright, it was obvious to him because it's the same pain he had felt when he had seen the way Bright looked at Gulf. He had stuck by his side regardless because he loved him and his happiness meant everything to him. He wasn't happy Bright had found out this way, but he saw a small ray of hope that maybe now he could see that there was someone willing to love him right here by his side.
