My mind cleared. Focus, Obi-Wan. You've fought her before, and you've beat her before. You know how she fights. She swung down, and I matched, blocking her swings with ease as she tried to back me against the wall. I countered, faking to the left, and dipping my saber to swing at her leg. She blocked with her left, locking my saber as she swung for my head.
My body and limbs seemed to move separately from my mind, acting in instinct and we nearly danced together in flashes of red and blue. I pushed against her with the force, knocking her backwards to disengage myself.
As she flew backwards, I retreated to the crate of electro-poppers in the corner, using the force to hurl several to where she had toppled over the corpse of our bounty hunter. She turned, catching them within mere inches and slicing them with her saber.
She stood, dusting herself off as she grinned. "You're not any fun anymore, Kenobi. I want to have some fun." She waved her hand, and the door opened.
My stomach plummeted.
Tied in a chair was a very bloody and blindfolded Anakin, loose gags in his mouth, bonds holding his arms and legs to the chair. From where I stood, I couldn't quite tell if he was awake, unconscious, or... Shaking my head to get rid of that last horrible thought, I reached out through our bond. I found him to be clinging to his consciousness, and relief poured over me.
Then, Ventress waved her hand at the droid standing guard next to Anakin. My old padawan struggled lightly as the droid took off his blindfold and turned on his horrid purple stun baton. I moved forward, but Anakin's voice stopped me.
"No, O-Obi... stay put...." his eyes widened as the droid swung his baton, hitting Anakin square in the chest. Anakin writhed, screaming. "aaAAAGH!" I rushed forward again, but another two droids blocked me from getting to him. I fought them as Anakin continued to shout behind them. Rage flowed, and I turned away from the droids.
I whipped around, and stalked towards Ventress, growling "Stop that now, before I fry you." She looked amused. "Ooh, now you'll be fun to fight!" Anakin screamed behind me. My saber unsheathed and I attacked the sith, now not fighting defensively. "stop this now, Ventress, or there will be consequences." She cackled evilly. "Oh Obi-Wan, I know you won't kill me. It's not in your character." Anakin's pain seared through our bond, and I hated her for what she was doing to him. "LET." I swung. "HIM." I swung. "GO!!!" I threw the force at Ventress, throwing her against the wall with all of the rage I could muster. She hit it, and I heard a nasty cracking sound.
I didn't care. She hurt Anakin.
I whirled around and made a quick job of the droids. After they were in pieces on the ground, I turned to him and sliced his bonds, catching his shoulders as he toppled from the chair. He breathed raggedly and I held his shoulders. "Anakin, we've got to go." He simply stared at me, unblinking, as his chest rose and fell unsteadily. "Anakin, I know it hurts but we must move, immediately."
He stared past my shoulder, his eyes widening as he took in Ventress' crumpled figure on the ground. Two of her bones hung at odd angles and her head was bleeding on the side. He looked horrified. "Anakin, there wasn't anything I could do, she was hurting you... I...." trailing off, I realized what I had done. Kriff, what if i k... I shook the thought from my head. After propping Anakin up on a chair, I walked nervously to the other side, crouched by her side, and checked for a pulse.
