"What happened?" I felt his warm hands trail my cheek. I practically leaned into him, wanting to just absorb all of his love.

"Another interview. This time, with Delaney Carter."

"Did she say anything out of line?" This was the normal protective Grayson. But lately, he was way more protective. Last time I was ambushed by reporters, Grayson punched one of them in the mouth.

"Kinda. Not really. I don't know..."

Grayson held me in his arms, stroking my cheek. I didn't know I was crying.

"Mom let's them. She let's them harass me." I admitted. She was downstairs tending to Tracy.

I felt Grayson's chest go up and down, up and down.

"She probably wants to know what happened too."

"Do you?"

"Sometimes I wonder. But I know you don't want to talk about it right now."

"I never wanna talk about it, Gray. Ever. And it's hard when I keep getting microphones jammed into my damn mouth." I wanted to punch something right then.

God, how could Grayson ever love me after all I've been through? How could he still want to be with me when more than once a week, he had to come over and make me feel better?

"It'll pass over. Something else will come up and they'll be onto the next. Just be patient. Your mom still loves you."

I bit my lip and sighed. He was right. The next major kidnap or the next major murder would make news and I'd be forgotten in no time.

I wondered for one second whether my father had seen the interviews. He was gone (my mother said on a supposed business trip). But I knew that he wasn't coming back any time soon.

Not after he thought I'd never be returned and life would go on with a broken family.

But here I was. As confused as ever.

"You're the best. I don't get to tell you that much but you are." I said, looking into his beautiful eyes.

"And you're brave. You will always be my fearless Sienna."

I was NOT fearless. I was scared to death.

I pushed my mouth against his, hoping I'd forget about what happened. I was looking for security.

The warmth of his lips sent electric currents through my body as I wrapped my arms around his neck.

Grayson's hand went to my flat stomach, until he stopped just under my bra. I sucked in a breath, heat making me anxious for his touch.

He paused, unattaching himself from me and stared into my eyes. This was the future I wanted. Or I thought I wanted. Him, right here.

"I can't do this. You're hurting. I can't-"

"Shh." I said, trying to kiss him again. But he moved out of the way and stood up.

"Sienna, I can't control myself around you." He balled his fists and turned away, opening my door and looking back at me. "I respect you too much. And I can't-can't do this to you right now."

And just as the temporary high I felt was there, it was gone in an instant.
