Dear Tay,

Hey Tay! How's it going in Florida? I heard it's humid. I've been good although it's a bit lonely without you here :c My cousins came over to visit and let's just say I will never look at my teddy bear the same way again. I'll explain that later, I have more important things to talk about! There's a new kid in the neighborhood! I know crazy right?! We haven't had a new neighbor since, well me. Anyways, he seems a bit...weird. Kinda like he's hiding something and you know the rules: no secrets! (Unless you have magical powers and if someone found out you and everyone who knows would be in a lot of danger) okay I'm being ridiculous, like anyone would have magical powers! But I still wanna find out what his little secret is! This could be life or death! I'll keep a look out 'til you get home on Sunday, then we can be the greatest detectives ever! (Or probably the worst detectives ever).

Miss you
        ~Mandy

P.S. Hurry up and come home!

I put down my pen and look out my window towards my best friend Tay's house. A small smile forms on my face, "see ya in a week Tay." I grab the letter I was writing and head downstairs.

"Mom, can you take me to the post office?" I ask my mom as I walk down the stairs to the living room where she was sitting in one of the armchairs.

She looks up at me from her book. "Sure sweetie, who's it for? Your boyfriend?" she teases.

"Ahg! For one: gross! And two: it's for Tay." I say.

She laughs, "I know, I'm just teasing you!" She closes her book and gets up. "You want to get her something? I can give you some money and we can go to the store while we're out." She grabs her wallet and counts how much money she has.

"Sure!" I say, "But can we go to the post office first? I really want to make sure that this letter gets to Tay on time!"

"Of course" She smiles and grabs her purse, "ready to go?" I nod and we head out to the car and to the post office.

I wait impatiently at the post office, who knew it would be so busy?! I sigh and look around the room. Just a bunch of boring mailboxes and a shelf full of Christmas cards that are for sale.

I count how many people are in front of me in line, six. I sigh again, 'I should've gone shopping first.' I tap my foot and continue looking at the holiday themed cards.

A few days pass and it's finally the big day! I peek out my window towards Tay's house.

A small, white SUV pulls into the driveway. I see a man, a woman, a young girl, about 9 years of age, and-

"Tay!" I jump off my bed and run downstairs towards the door. I quickly fling it open and run outside towards my friend, not even bothering to make sure if the door closed or not.

Tay is my best friend! Obviously. I know everything about her. Well almost everything, I still don't know how she gets her hair so awesome. Its black (like black-black not brown-black) and she puts two strands of hair in loops on either side of her head held in by two red ribbons. Her hair basically defies gravity (okay not really but I love it!). It's amazing! And also her eyes are a really pretty purple color. They're like two Amethyst crystals. (I'm so jealous!) She's wearing her typical black and red vest. I don't think I've ever seen her without it. Blue jean shorts, and red and black high tops (she loves her high tops).

I wave and call out to my friend. She turns around to see me running to her. An excited, toothy grin forms on her face. "Mandy!" She runs over to me.

We crash into each other and hug each other. I hug her so hard she could hardly breathe. Two months is a long time for best friends to be separated.
