Chapter 47

"Uhh...why are we here again?" Yuzu asked
"This is the Okogi land...you three must become the future protectors of this land" Kallen said
"Why all the sudden?" Shai asked
"Well...it's best to start now before it awakens" Ume said
"Before what awakens?" Shai asked
"We'll explain later. Fight now we must unlock the doors" Kallen said
"Let's just get this over with..." Juhin said as he rubbed his head. Ume and Kallen guided the Okogis towards the ruins where they found a door covered in vines
"Oh? So this is the place?" Yuzu asked
"Yes. Your father created this land for everyone and his allies. This project of his actually helped protect the land...until war broke out" Ume said
"Is there a way to wake it up again?" Yuzu asked
"That's why we're here. To see if it'll awaken by you three. Yongi wasn't the only one who created this...myself and Otojiro created this as well" Kallen said
"And since we're your kids...then you think it'll work on us too?" Shai asked
"That's what we're hoping for..." Kallen said as she tore of the vines and revealed a hand print
"Set your hand on flames..." Ume said and Yuzu did as she was told then reached out touching the hand print. A small orb glowed at the touch and soon Shai stepped up since she was next then placed her hand against the hand print. The second one glowed and the doors began to rumble a bit
"Alright...Ortho you're next" Ume said. Ortho stepped up and placed his hand against the hand print making the final and third orb glow. The vampires stepped back as the doors opened up
"Ugh...how old is this place?" Yuzu asked as she coughed softly
"Careful. A few of these pieces might fall off..." Ume said. Yuzu looked at the walls seeing cracks and spiders crawling out from them. Ortho jumped as he heard a hiss and trembled a bit
"This is gross..." Ortho said as he trembled. Shai trembled a bit and kept walking forwadd
"How far until we reach the middle?" Shai asked
"Yeah this is getting weird...and scary" Yuzu said
"Over here" Kallen said as she walked ahead and stopped at the edge. Her hand was set on fire and aimed towards the middle of the ceiling wgere she lit up the orb. The orb shattered and soon the place lit up the place revealing the building
"This is the place. This weird looking statue holds in the spirits of our ancestors and provides life to this land" Kallen said
"...so....did it stop working after...that?" Yuzu asked
"There have been a few struggles in our family...a few things happened between Yongi and Otojiro, our parents, and...that war" Kallen said
"...since we're next...does that mean it'll start working again?" Shai asked
"One way to find out..." Kallen said
"You three must awaken your family again...by using the Okogis power that is within you" Ume said
"So...set the thing on fire?" Yuzu asked
"You must use your own power and touch the statue to give it life" Ume said
"Oh okay. That sounds easy" Yuzu said as she walked up to the statue and set her hand on fire. Other walked towards the statue and Shai went to the statue
"Alright. One" Yuzu said
"Two" Shai said
"...three" Ortho said. The three Okogis touched the statue and soon the building began to rumble
"Eh?! Is it breaking?!" Yuzu exclaimed
"Wait! Don't move a muscle!" Ume said. The small group froze in place and soon the statue glowed as the cracks began to close fixing itself up. The castle began to rebuild itself as well along with the land that surrounded it
"Huh? Wait it literally brings life?" Yuzu asked
"Are you dumb?" Ortho asked
"Ortho no" Ume said
"Mm sorry ma'am" Ortho said as he looked away
"Wow...this place is beautiful" Shai said as she stared at the land. Yuzu looked over at Shai and walked towards the entrance of the building. Her eyes widened and trembled slightly
Flashback
"Papa!" The young girl giggled. The blonde haired man smiled as he opened up his arms
"Where is my little princess?" Yongi asked. Yuzu smiled brightly and jumped into his arms
"You're back!" Yuzu said
"Haha of course I am. I promised" Yongi said
"Glad you're back honey" Ume said as she smiled and walked up to him kissing his cheek
"Did you beat the bad guys?" Yuzu asked
"Sure did sweetie" Yongi said
"It's time to eat now, Yuzu" Ume said
"Yes! I want spicy food!" Yuzu said as she smiled brightly
"Well I should check up on our resources. I'll be joining you two in a minute" Yongi said as he put Yuzu down. He leaned in kissing Ume softly
"Love you sweetheart" Yongi said
"Love you too honey. I also made your favorite" Ume said as she smiled softly
"Thanks" Yongi said
"Papa are you coming?" Yuzu asked
"Papa will be back. Just let me check a few things around here" Yongi said and ruffled her hair softly. Yuzu nodded and held her mother's hand. Ume walked away with Yuzu heading inside the castle
"Can I eat everything?" Yuzu asked
"No Yuzu. You'll get a tummy ache" Ume said. Yuzu groaned as she pouted a bit. Ume smiled softly and carried her to the dining table
"If you eat all the curry then how will you be able to eat dessert?" Ume asked
"Ah! Dessert! I want dessert!" Yuzu said as she raised her hands. Ume smiled softly and ruffled her hair softly
"After eating dinner okay?" Ume said
"Okay mama" Yuzu said as she smiled brightly. Ume started serving the meal and that's when Yongi walked in
"Papa! You're back! Have a seat!" Yuzu said
"Hehe you're a little too excited" Yongi said as he chuckled softly
"Because mama made dessert!" Yuzu said
"Oh? Dessert?" Yongi asked
"I added a few extra ingredients. I just hope you'll be able to eat it" Ume said
"Don't worry Ume. It's quite alright" Yongi said as he smiled. Yuzu took a bite and drooled a bit
"Mama's cooking is the best..." Yuzu said
"It sure is" Yongi said
"I want to cook just like mama" Yuzu said
"I'll teach you a few things if you like" Ume said
"What? Really?" Yuzu asked
"Of course" Ume said
"I'll make food for Papa too!" Yuzu said
"I bet it'll be amazing as your mother's cooking" Yongi said
"Mhm!" Yuzu said

"Yuzu..." Ume said as she placed a hand on her shoulder. Tears rolled down Yuzu's eyes and she wiped it off
"... it's nothing...I just...miss him" Yuzu said as she looked down. Ume wrapped an arm around her and held her closely
"I miss him too...but your father did everything he could to protect you and let you live. I bet he is proud of you..." Ume whispered softly. Yuzu smiled a little and hugged her mother back
"So this is how everything looked like..." Ortho said as he looked around
"It looks so pretty. Does that mean we can bring vampires here?" Shai asked
"Yes but we'll need to remodel a few things an-" Kallen paused as the ground began to rumble
"Huh? What the hell is going on?" Yuzu asked. Suddenly the sky darkened and soon a couple of vampires appeared surround their land
"Intruders..." Kallen said before attacking the vampires
"You three must head towards the statue and unlock it's power! Quick!" Ume said
"B-but how-"
"Follow me!" Ortho said
"Wait shouldn't we help?!" Yuzu asked
"You guys go ahead! We keep them busy!" Ume said and started attacking the vampires who approached them
"Heh...just like the old times" Kallen said as her eyes glowed and blasted her flames from her palms spreading them across the land burning a few vampires. While they were fighting, Yuzu was running with her cousins
"Alright...so how the hell should we turn this on?" Yuzu asked as she looked around
"We need to wake up the guardians of this land" Ortho said and walked towards the walls that had a written language
"And how do you know all this?" Yuzu asked
"I've read it before" Ortho said as he ran his fingers through the writings
"Shit! They're inside!" Shai said and stomped the ground releasing her attack
"Read the thing!" Yuzu said as she ran up to the vampires setting her hands on fire. Ortho closed his eyes and soon opened his mouth mumbling a few words that caused something to shake from the ground
"What did you do now?!" Yuzu exclaimed
"Ooh! Look!" Shai said as she saw statues awaken from the ground and started to release a strong aura that pushed off the intruders from their land
"What kind of power is that?" Shai asked
"Some sort of force field. Hey how did you know about the writings?" Yuzu asked as she looked at Ortho
"I've studied our history and bumped into the information about the Okogi Kingdom and how it functions" Ortho said
"Good. You used it just in time" Kallen said
"Will we move here?" Yuzu asked
"Probably...we'll need to ask Matsuri about this land. It'll be useful once she wakes up..." Ume said
"You're talking about the corrupted child?" Yuzu asked
"...yes. We must prepare ourselves...because we don't have much time left" Ume said
"I'll start recruiting a few men to look out for this land..." Kallen said
"Very well. The rest must head to the Mizusawa Kingdom and tell them about the new land" Ume said
"Got it" Yuzu said

"Ugh...these classes are boring" Taysuke said as he leaned back in his chair
"Don't lean back too much or else you'll fall" Eiichi said worriedly
"Let him fall. It was hilarious the first time" Akae said
"Stop being mean" Megumi said
"Have any of you seen Sachie yet?" Eiichi asked
"Didn't she go to see her sister or something?" Megumi asked
"The psycho is probably holding her back..." Akae said
"Calm down, Akae" Megumi said
"I am calm..." Akae said as she looked down
"Heh yeah right..." Taysuke said
"What do you have against her?" Eiichi asked
"I'm not against her it's just...that well...she is just bothering Sachie. She's already been rejected by her" Akae said
"Wait...I thought Sachie didn't reply because she had no answer for her yet" Eiichi said
"How do you know for sure Sachie rejected her? I mean what if she is just thinking about it" Taysuke said
"You know...just confess" Megumi said
"I can't do that" Akae said as she blushed
"Why's that?" Megumi asked as she crossed her arms over her chest. Akae blushed a bit and looked away trying to hide it
"....it's embarrassing" Akae said
"And that's why you won't have Sachie since you can't tell her how you feel about her" Taysuke said
"What's holding you back anyways? No one is stopping you" Eiichi said
"I bet those brats are waiting for the right moment to attack me..." Akae said as she trembled a bit
"Nonsense. They won't hurt you" Eiichi said
"I doubt they'll try to do anything if Sachie is around" Megumi said
"That'd be hilarious" Taysuke said and laughed softly
"Shut up" Akae said
"Hey don't be mean to each other" Eiichi said
"Yeah Akae. Stop being mean to me" Taysuke said
"Ugh... you're so damn annoying" Akae said as she rolled her eyes
"You're annoying too" Taysuke said
"Enough guys" Megumi said
"Yeah try and get along" Eiichi said. Taysuke and Akae glared at each other then looked away from each other
"Sachie you're back" Megumi said
"Mm..." Sachie said
"Everything alright?" Eiichi asked
"Yes..." Sachie said
"So anyways let's head outside since we've been stuck in here all morning" Taysuke said as he stood up
"I need some fresh air..." Eiichi said
"I'll join" Megumi said. Sachie followed her friends while Akae was following her from behind
Come on Akae...get yourself together and tell her. I mean she might reject you but at least you tried right?
The group stepped outside and soon Akae grabbed Sachie's hand
"Hm?" Sachie asked as she looked at her
"Sachie...I uh...I have something to tell you" Akae said
"I'm listening" Sachie said. Taysuke laughed a bit before the others dragged him a away
"Maybe somewhere more private..." Akae said
"Sure" Sachie said and followed Akae to a more private spot. Akae trembled as her face reddened
"Hey...you okay?" Sachie asked
"Y-yeah it's just...that well..." Akae paused and sighed
Fuck...this is harder than I thought
"Look Sachie...I know we've been friends since forever and I-I really enjoy being your friend. You are awesome and sweet. You care about others and help them when in need. Y-you are an amazing person and...thank you for b-bring my friend even though...we kinda started off on the wrong foot but you gave me a chance. And so...uh...maybe you could give me a chance to...to...be with-" Akae paused as Sachie pushed her and soon a bat came in grabbing Sachie's shoulders lifting her up
"Ah! Sachie!" Akae exclaimed. Sachie growled turning around and bit down on the bat's leg hard enough making it bleed. The bat hissed in pain and shifted back to normal revealing her face. Sachie's eyes widened seeing the girl's face
Huh? Her face...is...disfigured?
