Nightmare had spent each night traveling into Classic's dreams. He had grown eager to see the small skeleton. Each time he arrived they sat in the flower field and talked of the past. He would talk about Killer and everyone around him while Classic listened carefully. The time alone had changed Nightmare. He had grown kind and considerate, which at times caught his followers off guard. Nonetheless, he enjoyed how he was. Every second with Classic was a moment he cherished.
One night he had entered the dream to find the scenery had changed. The old fields had been replaced by a woodland area. Massive oaks rose high, coating the surrounding are in shade. Nightmare had glanced around, searching for Classic. The smaller skeleton had always made efforts to find Nightmare. When Classic wasn't to be found, panic attacked Nightmare. He searched frantically before freezing when something latched onto him. Hands wrapped around his body from behind.
"Classic? Don't scare me like that!" The smaller skeleton shrunk slightly as sadness fell off him. Nightmare sighed before turning around, his arms pulling Classic into a hug.
"Sorry Nightmare..."
"It's okay, just don't do that again. You made me worried something happened!" There was a long silence before Classic nodded. Nightmare smiled as he glanced to the house before him. "So where are we now?"
"This was my last home, the one I fled from." Nightmare nodded before he released the hug. Classic noticed before he grabbed Nightmare's hand. Without warning he was pulled away from the house and deeper into the woodlands. Confusion crossed him until his ears noticed the sound of rushing water.
The moment they cleared the tree line, Nightmare felt his heart flutter. Crystal water shimmered from the sun high overhead. Classic had released Nightmare's hand as he moved closer to the water's edge. His reflection shook as the water was disturbed from the waterfall above. Mist rose into the air, layering Classic's gown. The fabric was slowly getting wet, his feet stepping into the water. He turned back toward Nightmare before offering a hand. He glanced cautiously before stepping forward. He'd never regret reaching out until he felt fingers latch on and drag him into the cold water. Chills ran up his body as he struggled to stand up. Classic let out a soft chuckle as he floated on the waters surface.
Nightmare stood drenched, his face morphed into annoyance. He glanced at Classic, joy present on his expression. Grinning wickedly, Nightmare trailed his tentacle under the waters surface. The moment it wrapped around Classic's waist, he let out a startled cry. Nightmare laughed as he quickly pulled him under and released his grip to allow Classic to race for the surface. When he breached the water he gave a small frown before he chuckled, his smile returning once more. Even Nightmare found himself laughing.
They remained in the water for some time before Nightmare had fled from the liquid. He was growing colder by the second. Classic noticed before he trailed behind Nightmare. They pressed their feet against the ground as they moved once more through the woodlands. After moments they arrived at the cabin, Classic pushing the door open. He entered before motioning Nightmare in. Obeying, he slowly crept into the small building. Even for the lack of room, the furniture was astounding. The wooden floors rarely creaked and the windows allowed the sunlight to fall into the house. It was comforting, unlike Nightmare's dark castle.
"This house is wonderful. Did you enjoy your time within these walls?" Nightmare's question drew Classic's eyes as he smiled.
"Yeah. Everyday I would sit in the living room learning, playing, even sleeping. Toriel was kind to me and my brother. For that, I owe her my life. If not for the day she picked us up off the street, I wouldn't be standing before you." The thought brought sadness as Nightmare imagined it. He felt a chill course through him as he took a seat at the table.
