Chapter 3

3.1

Let's see... So the school is more in the center of the city. It's quite far walking there on foot. But I get used to walking so it shouldn't take that long. Beside, the sun isn't up yet; as long as I get there before noon, should be all good.

As I wander on the big main street, I can't help but get curious at everything around me. Of course it differs a lot from where I live, but this is... just too much for me.

Hm... I got time. Maybe I can go explore around a bit...

"Hey! Watch where you're going!"

Oww, I dodge onto near the wall of a huge building. The carriage runs right beside me. How rude! And don't go that fast, the horses may hit someone! Geez! I hope that man gets what he deserves; like a wheel slips off or something.

I take a left turn and go into a street with a lot of stalls and shops. This is a huge market..., no, like a shopping district. I haven't had breakfast, maybe I should check out these foods selling here.

I hear huge sounds of horseshoe stomping on the road behind me; this can only be that guy before. Good, he must have forgotten something due to that hastiness.

"Ouch!"

I hear sound of a girl falling onto ground. I should run to her to see if anything. You're getting bad omen you quick head.

"Are you alright?" I ask and help her stand up.

"Thank you, I'm okay."

"That guy will get karma for doing this; oh your skirt is dirty."

"Haha, leave him be. There are different kinds of people at the capital you know. Are you new here?"

"Ah yeah, I just got here this morning."

"By the way, my name is Kayano Onodera. What is your name?"

"Ah... uhm, my name is Kei Kazuirawa."

"Is that so? Karuizawa-san, what do you come here for?"

"I come here to attend the Maltris Institution of Magic; I received an invitation letter from them earlier. Do you live here, Onodera-san?"

"Yes, this is my hometown. And what a coincident! I also attend that school today."

She seems to be a nice person, also she lives here. I'm glad her destination is the same as mine. I should ask her to come along; I don't know if I can survive in this overwhelming place alone.

"Etou... can you lead me to the institution? I have a map here but really, I'm not familiar with this new place."

"Haha, you'll get used to here eventually. I really want to but I have some business going on now. I'm sorry but we'll meet later at school. See you!"

"Wait... Hey" She just runs away. Why does everyone here have to be so hasty? Guess I'll have to be comfortable with it if that's the case...

Oh and my breakfast, what should I buy...? I don't recognize any of these foods here. Haiz. Why bother? Let's pick one and get going.

I should have asked Onodera-san about this, too late.

Hm uhm... This is not bad; it's somewhat familiar but also funny at the same time. Though I still have no idea what this is. If I have to put it, it's like mashed potato with strange sauce on it, these herbs in the sauce is also unfamiliar with me, either.

Now that my breakfast is done with, I should head back to the main street. Wandering around these districts and alleyways could get me lost anytime. But I have to watch out for those crazed guy like the man before.
