"Are you okay?" Louis asks me. I'm sitting in a chair waiting for the doctor to come back to the room. "It hurts, but it's fine." I tell him.
"Where did the doctor go?" my mum asks. "To check to the X-rays." Louis explains. I look around the room. What have I gotten myself into? If I had friends I would have known it was ditch day, I wouldn't be here right now..
"Mum, is ditch day actually a thing?" I ask her. "Sadly, yes, it is. We all use to do it the last day of school." She sighs. She's probably thinking about all her friends and all the fun she had as a high schooler. "We never did that when I was in high school!" Louis pouts. "I didn't think Doncaster did it anymore.." my mom says, her voice trailing off. She looks at me. "Is that what this is about? You got beat up because you were going to school on ditch day?" "No mum, I told you. I tripped on the curb on my way to school." Louis opens his mouth to speak but I look him in the eyes, pleading him to keep his mouth shut.
"Well thank goodness Lou was out and about to help you!" "Yeah. How come you're here anyway?" I ask him.
"Lottie is going to a summer camp, so somebody has to watch Fizzy and the twins while mum's at work." "That's great! Abby, you remember Lottie, right?" she asks me. "Yes mum, we were only best friends with the Tomlinson's for like, ever." Louis chuckles.
"Until we moved to the other side of town and mum got a new job.. Nothing's really been the same since." I can see my mum's face turning pink. "Yes.. We never really had a chance to catch up after the move, huh?" "Yeah." Louis sighs.
The door opens and the doctor walks in. She's small, and slightly pudgy. "Well, it's not broken but it's mangled. You hit it pretty hard." she hands me the X-rays. What I'm looking at doesn't resemble a nose at all; it just looks like a white blob printed on shiny black paper. "Thank you." I tell her. She hands my mum the prescription.
When we get outside, Louis leans over and whispers, "What was that all about? You didn't trip! Those girls bullied you!" "Shut up! I don't need any more drama, okay?" He looks confused and slightly angry. "But why would you stand up for them?" "I'm not, Louis. If I tell it just gets worse. Besides, I'm not a tattletale." He sighs. "Whatever."
