"Hey mum, me and Louis are going to a friend's house for a barbecue thing." I tell her. "What time?" "4 to whenever. We aren't sure what time it will end." She smiles. "Okay honey, that's fine with me." I hug her and head up to my room.
I pick out a pair of pink skinny jeans, and a grey shirt with rhinestones on the shoulders. I put them on and head to the bathroom to do my makeup. Once I am satisfied with how I look, I go back to my room. It's already 3:00, so I decide to practice my singing. I turn on my radio and sing along to the 5 Seconds Of Summer song that is on.
"Abby?" I hear, and see Louis walk into my room. I feel the blood rush to my face. "Hey. How long have you, uh.." "Doesn't matter. You ready?" I nod and lace up my Vans. "Let's go!"
"Abby! Louis! I'm so glad you guys came!" Niall says, his blue eyes shining with joy. "Hey, Niall!" I say. "Hey." Louis says. I elbow him and give him a look that says "Stop being a bastard!" and he lightens up a little.
"You guys want some food?" Niall asks us. "Sure." we say in unison.
Once we get our food, we sit down at a table with Niall. I look around and notice that it's mostly older adults there. "Are these your neighbors?" I ask him. "Yeah. That's why I invited you lot. Most of them are over 35." he explains, making me giggle. "It's true! I'm almost 20 and they treat me like I'm a five year old, trying to squish my cheeks and shit." "I'm sorry Niall, that must suck." Louis says. "Yeah, it does."
We finish eating, and I notice Niall glancing at my nose. "You don't have to pretend you don't see it, Niall." I tell him. "What happened?" "I was pushed by the same girls that tried to talk to you on ditch day." Louis looks at me, obviously surprised at my truthful confession. "That bitch Tanya, right?" he asks. "Yup." He puts his hand on y shoulder. "I'm sorry. Must've hurt." "It hurt like shit, but it's not broken." "Thank god!" he says. I smile at him. He really is nice. I wonder how I've never seen him at school before.
"You guys wanna go inside and watch a movie or something?" Niall asks us. "What do you have?" Louis asks. He's been weirdly quiet this whole time. "We have Netflix, so anything really." "Sweet!!" I exclaim, and we follow him inside.
I sit in between Niall and Louis on the couch, and we put on What If. Niall turns to us and says, "I have to ask because I've been wondering.. Are you guys a couple?" I let out a small snort. "No, just childhood friends reunited by a mangled nose." And a kiss in a bedroom... "Oh, cool." He says.
When the movie is over Louis stands up. "I have to be home by 6, so I think I'm gonna get going." Niall stands up too. "That's fine. I'm really glad you guys showed up. This was fun; lets hang out again sometime!" "Sounds like a plan, then!" I say. I hug Niall, he shakes hands with Louis, and we are on our way home.
"That was fun, and Niall is really nice." I say. "Yeah, he is." He sounds upset. "Lou?" He doesn't look at me when he says "Yeah." "What's up?" "Whadya mean?" He looks behind him, checking for something, then turns back around. "What was that all about?" I ask. "Nothing. Why are you so worried, anyway?" "I just wondered what was wrong." We are at my house.
"Guess I'll go in then." I say. He looks up at me, straight into my eyes. "Can I stay here?" he asks. "I thought-" "Yes or no?" "I guess, but your mum will be upset when she finds out that you've blown her off. "My mum knows I'm not coming home tonight." "Oh, really? How is that?" "Can we just go inside? I'll explain it to you in there." I shrug and open the door.
