"Louis! Abby! Are you guys up there?" I hear Jo yelling up the stairs. "Yeah, mum!" Louis yells back. "Okay! Lou, we're leaving in about an hour. The twins are getting tired." "Alright mum!" He rolls his eyes and smiles at me.
"So when is Lottie leaving for camp?" I ask him. "Tuesday, I think." "Do you think you'll need help watching the kids while Mark and Jo are at work?" "Probably. Wanna come over and help?" "Yeah!!" He smiles at my unknown excitement to hang with him and the kids.
"So you're a senior now?" he asks me. "No, I'm free now." "Really? Oh. Time flies." "You're 21 though, aren't you? So old!" I say, playing around with him. "Shush! Not funny!!" "Shush! Not funny!" I mock him in a old man voice and we both crack up.
"So, you sure you're not hungry?" he asks. "Actually, I am now. There probably isn't any food knowing Perrie." "And the girls, they never stop
eating!" He gets up and we walk into the hall and down the stairs. When we get out to the yard, Perrie and Lottie are sitting at the table, Jo and my mum are sitting on lawn chairs talking, and the girls are paying on the swing set.
"Remind me why Mark couldn't come?" I ask Louis. "Work." "Bet you're bummed, being the only guy here." He raises his eyebrow at me and smirks. "I'm having a jolly time, thanks." He puts his arm around me and squeezes, then lets go before anyone sees.
"Any food left?" I ask Perrie. "Yeah, over there." she points to the cooler by the side of the house. "Thanks, Per." "Yup." she says, without looking at me. Her and Lottie are talking about the boys in the sophomore class at school with them. I look around, then say, "Let's go out front, Lou." He follows me to the cooler, I grab a sandwich and a Pepsi. We sit next to each other on the front porch.
"Who's that?" he says, pointing at a boy walking down the street. "Dunno, but he looks lost." I tell him. The boy walks up to the end of our driveway and says, "Do you know where the convenience store is?" he asks us. "Yeah! Would you like us to walk you there?" I ask him. He smiles. "Sure! I would really appreciate it. I'm not very good with directions." I get up, Louis does too, and I walk down to the boy.
He's cute, with blonde-brown hair, really pretty blue eyes, about 5 foot 7, I'm only guessing though. "I'm Niall." he says, still smiling that cute smile. "I'm Abby, this is Louis." I say, introducing us both. Just like when we were little kids. I eat my sandwich as we walk. "So Niall, do you live around here?" I ask him. "I live down on the corner of Washington and Phelmont. "That's pretty close to here." I say. He nods. "How long have you lived here?" Louis asks him. "Only a year or so, I just finished my senior year last week." "So did I!" I exclaim. "You must have known about ditch day then. I didn't, so I went to school. I felt like an idiot when this group of girls came up to me and told me, then asked me to hang out with them." Tanya. Me and Louis exchange glances. "Did you?" I ask. "No. Those are the girls that screw with people. Not interested in that." I wanted to hug him right then and there.
When we got to the store, Niall went in to grab his things. I walked around the food isle, talking to Louis about what kind of mushroom tasted best.
We met Niall outside when he was done, and started our walk back together. "My mom wants to have a cookout with the neighbors." he says. "You guys should come!" "Want to go, Lou?" I ask him. "Sounds like fun!" he exclaims. "It's tomorrow from 4 to whenever. Hope to see you guys there!" Niall tells us. "I think I can make it back from here. Thank you both so much for the help!" He smiles at us before walking away.
The Tomlinson's are ready to go by the time we get back. "Ready Louis?" Jo asks. "Yeah, we helped out a friend for a minute. He was lost." Hearing him refer to Niall as a friend makes me realise - I just made a friend! And he's even cute!
"Bye Abby!" Lottie says to me. I hug her, Jo, and the girls before Louis comes up to me. "See you tomorrow." he says. "I'll pick you up at 3:30, and we can walk there, okay?" "Sounds good." I tell him. I make sure no one is paying attention and say, "You can't tell anyone about today, okay?" He nods, and hugs me goodbye.
"Did you have fun?" My mum asks me. We are watching the telly before bed. "Yeah- lots."
