I finally got discharged from the hospital. I didn't want to stay there anymore and the nurses and doctors said I was doing fine. We went home about a week after I woke up a long week may I add. It was test after test on something about me, I don't know I didn't pay attention to what they said.
Larry brought me some clothes it was his hoodie and a pair of sweatpants. They smelled like him it was....comforting. He had to help me get dressed cause I was still getting used to standing again because I had been out for so long. My legs shook so much when the nurses had me stand that I almost fell over. Yeah.... it wasn't fun, but they gave me a walking stick to help so I guess that's going good. The day after I woke up Larry spent all day laying with me no matter what the doctors said he didn't leave my side. When I asked him why he said that when I wake up from sleeping he wants to be the first thing I see so I'm not scared. I admit I blushed when he said that.
Three days after I woke up I could talk better and my throat didn't hurt as much although I still kept the talking to a few sentences an hour the rest of the time was just pointing or charades. But Larry always understood what I meant and what I needed he helped me a lot. During one of my naps he had called Ash, Todd, Neil, and Travis. They all showed up.
Ash drove all night to come and see me. Todd and Neil took off work and Travis told his dad he was going to help a friend convert to Jesus or something like that. When everyone got here it was a big cry fest. What's crazy though is no one brought up.... that. I think Larry told them not to speak about it unless I brought it up. They all stayed the night Todd passed out first while leaning on Neil then after awhile both Neil and Ash fell asleep.
"This was.... very much needed" I say turning towards Travis. Oh did I mention he finally say my face. The nurses won't let me have it back until I leave so when everyone came in they all got to see me. Lucky Larry was by my side when everyone saw me if he wasn't I think I would of di- cried probably cried. The best part of it all is no one looked away I don't think they even noticed at first.
"Yeah I'm just glad your doing ok. How's your throat though? I mean when should you be able to talk more again?" Travis asked as Larry sits by the window looking out on everything.
"The doctors said to.... take it slow and just practice each day till.... *cough* my throat gets used to it again."
"Oh well just don't practice to much. You could make your throat bleed from it going raw" Travis reply's with a small smile.
"Heh I'll be fine." I say with a smile back. "It's late we should get to sleep. That *cough* means you Larry."
"Yeah I'll sleep just....just give me a minute"
Travis grabs a pillow and lays on the floor next to the chairs before falling asleep almost immediately.
"Larry come on it's late." I say patting a spot for him. He turns towards me and lowers his head as he smiles and scoffs."I'm coming I'm coming but I'm gonna need more room than that." Larry picks me up and lays me on his chest as he lays in the bed with me. I keep my head near his heart and slowly I fall asleep listening to his heart beating.
The next few days were hectic as papers had to be signed, last minute tests had to be run, and all types of stuff. Everyone went home after spending two days with me except Larry he stayed. No matter how many times I go to a hospital I will always hate shots. Lisa came to get us the day I was discharged she took off work just to come get us. I ended up falling asleep on the way back cause next thing I knew we were at the apartments. I sense of dread pulled over me. My dad would want to see me soon and he probably knows I'm out of the hospital.
I take a deep breathe as I open the car door and grab the walking stick. Larry helps me inside and to his room. He heads back out to grab my old clothes and prosthetic and I sit on his bed. I take in a deep breath and take in everything around me. I notice it's clean for once. All the clothes are put away or in a hamper and trash is all gone. I notice a lock on one of the drawers and wait for Larry to come back so I can ask him about it.
I lay down on the bed thinking about all the good times we had in here and slowly slip into a deep sleep but this time it was dreams.
