Page 7 – Stop the Chase
“I'M SORRY, Vincentte. I'm so sorry,” my hands reached for his cheeks, “But I can’t.”
“Ano ba kasing problema? May kulang pa ba sa akin?”
You are perfect, Vincentte. So perfect for me that I don’t want to ruin your life by existing on it. “Hindi ka nagkulang. Walang mali sa'yo.”
“Hindi kita maintindihan, Willow.”
I bitterly smiled, “Hindi ko rin maintindihan ang sarili ko. Mahal kita, Vincentte, at dahil mahal kita, ayaw kong idamay ka sa gulong pinasok ko at sa mga gulong papasukin ko.”
“Bakit papasok ka pa kung alam mong magugulo ang buhay mo, Willow?”
“Because she can’t help it. Because she’s addicted to it.” singit ng isang boses. Napalingon ako sa pinanggalingan nito at naroon sa may pinto ang taong may may-ari ng aking katawan pati na ang aking business, Zenair, and he's looking at me.
“Who the fuck are you?” galit na tanong ni Vincentte.
“Come here, my Willow.”
“No, don’t go, Willow.” I bit my lower lip. “Don’t leave me, Willow.” The lip I'm biting trembled.
Pilit akong kumawala sa pagkakakapit niya. I heard Vincentte whispered softly, sadness and brokenness in his tone, “No..”
Napapikit ako habang naglalakad papalapit kay Zenair. This is what Vincentte would never know. Staying was easier and leaving him was the hardest decision I've ever made. If I stayed, hindi ko sana masasaktan ang sarili ko, but I need to leave even though it’s like a sword is continuously gutting me. I need to leave for Vincentte’s sake. I need to leave because I don’t deserve a man like him. I need to leave because I don’t want him involved and ruined due to this mess of a life I have.
Nang malapit na ako kay Zenair, Zenair wrapped his arms around me until I'm slumped on his side, my hand on his chest, and both of us were looking at a stupefied Vincentte.
“Come back to me, Willow.” pakiusap muli ni Vincentte.
I can’t, Vincentte. Napapikit na lang ako. It’s better this way. Just leave me be. Leave me be to rot on my own. Ayaw kong idamay ang pamilya ko. Ayaw kitang idamay, Vincentte.
“I thought you love me but why are you on his arms instead of mine?!” galit na tanong ni Vincentte, “What the fuck is your problem, Willow Kageyama?”
“I own her.” biglaang sagot ni Zenair. What is he doing? “Isinugal niya ang sarili at business niya sa akin. You know her beloved winery business? Mine now and this body,” hinagod niya ang palad sa gilid ng katawan ko, tracing my curves, “..is mine too.”
“Zenair!” I hissed at him but he continued,
“She gambled them as prize and lost to me.” Ngumisi si Zenair. “The woman you love is not just gambling. She’s addicted to it. She craved for its thrill that she can’t literally live her life without gambling. She’s a problem gambler, Vincentte Van Helsing, at alam mo ang mas malala?”
