Chapter 5

I walked up to the counter and looked at the tiny kitten and the owl. I then realized I was only allowed to get one pet. I stood there silently thinking to myself "the kitten or the owl? The kitten or owl? Kitten or Owl?" you know what. Screw it. I'll just get both, who cares about the rules. I paid for both the owl and kitten. I put Eris (the kitten) in her cage so she doesn't run off again, but Athena seemed comfortable resting on my arm, so I kept her there. I patted her on the head and told her not to run off.

I exited the shop and saw Cedric sitting outside waiting for me.

"Two pets? Wow Aph I didn't know you were an animal person." He looked up at the owl, and then down at the kitten. "Or a cat person..."

"I'm just full of surprises aren't I" I smirked at Cedric. "Meet Athena" I looked at the owl, "and this little one here is Eris." I looked at the kitten in the cage.

"You named them after Greek goddesses? Clever." He reached his hand out to pet Athena, but she tried to nip his fingers. "Yikes! A bit feisty that one."

I laughed and pet her "It seems she doesn't like many others."

"Yeah obviously. She almost bit my fingers off!"

"stop being so dramatic. You would've hardly gotten a cut."

"You don't know that."

I sighed and rolled my eyes. "Well then, let's go look for our parents. I'm getting a bit hungry after being here all day."

We walked around and soon found our parents talking to each other.

"You get all your stuff?" Father asks eyeing Athena and Eris.

"Yes father. I also got two pets because I couldn't decide which one to get. I hope you're not mad." I said hoping he'd forgive me. Sometimes asking for forgiveness is easier than asking for permission.

He sighed. "It's all right Aphy. Just make sure they don't cause too much trouble."

I looked away and smiled. It was easy for me to always get my way. I was more cunning and ambitious. Hey maybe I'll be a Slytherin. But I was also super brave. Maybe Gryffindor? Ooh but if I'm a Hufflepuff I can be in the same house as Cedric. Oh, but I look really good in blue and I'm very smart so Ravenclaw?

I couldn't wait until September 1st. It couldn't come soon enough.
