Chapter 23, "Last Minute".

A couple weeks later :

Brad Pitt : What are you reading?

He joins her in the kitchen, having just finished taking a shower.

Jen : The script to this thing I'm doing.

Brad : What thing?

Jen : A live table read of Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Brad : Really? Who's in on it?

Jen : Well... Sean Penn, Morgan Freeman... oh and Julia Roberts too.

Brad : Great cast. When is it?

Jen : I don't know yet.

Looking up from her computer, she gets an idea as she knows Brad's got nothing to do but stay at home the next few weeks.

Jen : Hey, I have a crazy idea... what if you join?

Brad : Me?

Jen : Yeah, wouldn't that be fun?

Brad : I guess yeah... it would be fun for us to do something together again.

Jen : Right? I'll call them right now.

Brad : Wait, are you sure they would want me?

Standing up she looks at him as if he just asked the dumbest question ever.

Jen : Are you seriously asking if they would want you to join? You're Brad Pitt.

The next day, at Courteney's house :

Courteney : Do you wanna play a round?

With the pole in her hand, Courteney looks at Jen who's sitting on top of Brad's lap.

Jen : Come on' Court, you know I suck.

Courteney : I'll teach you. It's not that hard.

Jen : But I'll look like an idiot compared to you.

Courteney : Well duh, I'm the best.

Handing her a pole, Court organizes the balls before Jen shoots her shot.

Jen : See I told you.

Not surprising, she misses.

Brad : Come on Jen, you can do better.

Jen : Shut up.

Trying again, she puts her glasses on this time.

Jen : Fuck.

Courteney : I need to film this.

Jen : Courteney...

Pulling out her phone she starts recording Jen as she's struggling, already thinking of a song that would fit in the background for her Instagram post.

Jen : You're not gonna post this are you?

Courteney : You bet I will.

Handing Courteney the pole, Jen sits back down on Brad's lap.

Jen : That's it, I'm done.

Courteney : Chicken.

Jen : Sorry, what's that?

Courteney proceeds to play on her own while Jen's fickling with Brad's hair.

Jen : I'm so excited for Friday.

Brad : Me too.

Courteney : Excited about what?

Jen : This table read we're doing, of Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
