The story spread through the school like wildfire, and Harry wasn't the only one getting talked about. As I walked down the halls people flattened themselves against the walls, and whispers followed me. One girl actually squeaked and ran away when I had tried to pick up a quill that she dropped... I gave it to her friend, who looked equally petrified. Although some kids had it bad too, their parents being death eaters and all. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going so naturally, I ran into someone, I didn't fall down or anything but we both dropped our books.
"Sorry about that," I said bending over and quickly gathering the books, When I gave them back, I saw Harry staring at me
"Harry?" I asked when he didn't take his books.
"Er- right sorry," He said taking his books
"Harry!" Hermione said running up to him, "Er- hi Percy,"
"Hey," I said casually. They both just stared at me, not sure what to do I just chuckled awkwardly and bent down to collect my books that had been dropped. When I was done, they were still just staring, "So umm I guess I'll go now... See you later I guess?" I said and started to hurry off.
"Wait! Percy! About the Quibbler-" Harry started, I paused and turned to him
"What about it?" I asked,
"Er- wait your not mad?" Harry asked. I shook my head
"Why? Did the reporter get something wrong?" I asked frowning
"Well no, but er-" I smiled and put a hand on his shoulder.
"It's all good Harry, I believed you since I found out about wizards, so I'm glad people are starting to open their eyes. Of course, some warning would have been nice," I chuckled. Harry and Hermione just stared at me again.
"Harry! Hermione!" Ron called jogging up to them, "Er- Percy,"
"Hi" I said, great now all of them were staring, "Okay so I'm going to go, because this has gotten really awkward," I beelined it for the lake. I was done with classes today. I wasn't mad at Harry for spreading the truth, but I was frustrated at everyone for avoiding me, tip toeing like I might blow up. I waited until it was dark and then snuck out. I really wish I had a sparring partner but I could do with some basic drills. It was early morning when I saw Snape running towards me. I quickly capped riptide.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Harry, got a vision, the dark lord is going to strike, he's found out about you, Dumbledore wants you in his office," I collected my shirt and wiping some of the sweat off with it we ran to Dumbledore's office.
Ron, Hermione, Harry and Dumbledore were in there when Snape lead me in.
"What's that?" Ron asked immediately
"What's what?" I asked looking down at my toruso, I was still wearing shorts, so what was the problem... the tattoo. Dam I had forgotten about that. I beamed
"Cool isn't it?" I asked, "Got it when I was 16/17, don't think it was legal though," I said Snape coughed, and Dumbledore raised his eyebrows but neither said anything.
"Umm could you maybe put your shirt on?" Hermione asked I looked down at the shirt in my hands.
"Oh yah, sure." I said pulling it on. I evaporated some of the sweat,
"So, what's this about Voldemort finding out about me? I thought that was the plan." Dumbledore cleared his throat
"Yes- well Harry saw Voldemort planning to use you to get something in the Department of Mysteries." Dumbledore explained
"Well it's a good thing that I don't know where that is, can I go back now?" I asked. I wasn't in a good mood; I had been training to relieve some stress and instead I get this news. It's not like this was a risk I wasn't prepared to take, but if I came to a battle... I don't know how I would take it.
"Percy, calm down." Snape muttered. I laughed darkly, turning on him,
"Calm down!? Why should I? When I have to put up with this EVERYDAY? When people RUN AWAY from me JUST because of my GRANDFATHER? WHEN I CAN'T EVEN WALK DOWN THE HALLS WITHOUT REMEBERING WHAT I AM?!" The ground was shaking and the glasses were clinking together, Dumbledore looked surprised and slightly taken back. Snape approached me slowly,
"Your right, this isn't right but get ahold of your emotions, before you regret it," He said cautiously. The trio looked on, surprised, and not really understanding what was going on. They had no idea what danger they were in, what danger this school was in. I took a breath and griped my powers, still angry, but controlling myself. Then I turned on my heal,
"That's it I'm going out," I said
"Percy!" Snape called, frustrated.
"Later," I said holding up a hand. I heard the trio, excuse themselves and start following me.
"You do realize I'm mad right?" I said sitting down by the lake, staring out at the water, my dad seemed to be annoyed at something. The water had slowing been growing a darker edge to it.
"I just wanted to apologize, it can't be easy being hated like that," Hermione said sitting down next to me. I chuckled.
"'Not easy' is a way to put it. No I'm used to that," I said dismissively, thinking about how the gods were in constant taboo, to kill or not to kill Percy, I rolled my eyes, "No I just don't like be treated like glass, constantly having to tip toe around, it frustrates me, I just want to scream, so I come out here. I like the water. Sometimes I spar, other times I just sit here." I said Ron and Harry sat down too,
"You were here the night of the Quittage match," Ron pointed out and I nodded,
"Yah, well that was just because Draco was sulking too much," I said chuckling a bit.
"Come to think about it I saw a figure here when we went down to Hagrid's, and Snape didn't even bother going to the dungeons to get you, he just came here." I nodded, "But how did you do it? Umbridge came this way too, how did she not catch you." I smiled, stupid mortals,
"I have my ways." I sighed and leaned back, my eyes on the water.
"How'd you do it?" Harry asked. I hummed
"Do what?"
"Control your anger like that? When right after Snape talked you down. You calmed so quickly, like a switch in your head,"
"I learned, anger is a very dangerous emotion, you have to wield it very carefully, I quickly learned that if I got upset certain things happen," Like toilets exploding in peoples faces. I laughed at the thought. I could feel my anger melting away, "Besides, that's why I left, I wasn't calm, I was still furious. Even now I can feel the anger slowly melting away," They blinked,
"You're still mad?" Ron asked and I laughed,
"Yah I told you before you sat down remember?" I said and they shifted uncomfortably, "Don't worry, I've got control of myself, if I didn't, I wouldn't have let you follow me down here." I said.
"Where'd you get the tattoo? Dumbledore and Snape know, and it wasn't just an impulse." Hermione asked, I bet it had burning her for a while. I smirked,
"You catch on quick," I said feeling the rest of my anger melt away, I stood up and brushed off my pants, "Well, I'll be off now, you have fun." I said walking back to the school.
