Bakugo was standing in front of her, looking worried, and confused, and angry. She wanted to scream at him to run, but she couldn't. She saw herself tap his forehead. "Unravel." She watched in horror as he materialized into flecks of light before disappearing altogether.
"Nooo!!!" She screamed, jolting upright.
"Hali!" Yaoyorozu ran over and hugged her. Todoroki had suggested the two of them come over to check on Hali after All Might's announcement.
Bakugo's mother walked into the room. Hali had never met her, but Bakugo looked just like her, so Hali knew without using any of her Quirks. "I-I'm so sorry! I couldn't save him! I wasn't strong enough!" She felt like her words were hollow and meaningless, but they came out nonetheless.
"You can't blame yourself. It wasn't your fault." Bakugo's mother put a hand on Hali's shoulder. Her eyes were red from crying. "Sometimes there's nothing you can do."
"B-But I-I h-have all the Q-Quirks! So why!?! Why couldn't I save him!?!" Hali wailed, barely intelligible. "Why, why did they have to send him to NoWhere?!? Why?!?" She felt like her heart was going to burst from all of the pain and sadness welling up inside of her.
"Wait! Did you just say 'NoWhere', like a place where nothing exists?" Yaoyorozu almost yelled.
"No, you can't, Yaoyorozu! You promised!" Todoroki looked very worried about something.
"What are you talking about?" Hali managed to get out.
"I went there once! Todoroki, we have to at least try!" She took his hands in hers. "We'll try calling him back first, okay? Just like you called me back. He's so stubborn though, so we're going to need everyone!" She dashed off to collect their teachers and classmates.
Yaoyorozu made everyone join hands in a huge circle. "Everyone, think about every memory you have with Bakugo! We have to think loud and clear so we can reach him!
Katsuki, it's your mother. You'd better come home right now or I'm going to beat the hell out of you!
Hey, Bakugo! Kirishima here! We have one more Sports Festival left! It won't be much of a competition without you, so come back soon, okay?
Young Bakugo! It is I! It's quite hard to surpass someone if you remove yourself from the playing field. You don't want young Midoriya to be the number one hero now, do you?
Kacchan...I don't really know what to say here...come home soon and I'll see if All Might can get us permission to have a real spar, alright?
Hey, Bakugo? It's Hali...I'm probably the last person you want to hear from right now. We were able to put those villains in jail because of the help I got from you and Midnight. My life since I met you has been one big, crazy adventure. There's never a dull moment with you around. I think I've caused you enough trouble though. After you get back, I'll leave this city so you'll all be safe from me--
"The hell you will! Stubborn Empath! And the rest of you, why the hell are you so friggin' loud!?!"
Nearly half of the class piled on him in a huge group hug. He started shooting blasts at the floor. "Get off of me! The hell is your people's deal!?!"
His mom decked him. "Your classmates just saved your life! Show them some gratitude!" She forced him to bow his head.
He shrugged her off. "Let go of me you old hag!"
She punched him again. "What did you say to your mother!?!" Their fight was interrupted by a loud sob. They both looked in Hali's direction as Yaoyorozu shooed the rest of the class out of the room.
