Draco and his friends went to dinner in the Great Hall. "Did you hear? Someone said. "We have flying lessons with Harry Potter." Draco groaned. "That Harry Potter, he's ruining my life."Draco said. "How?" Goyle asked eating a piece of chicken. "He's all any one ever talks about, that orphan boy. I'm getting tired of it." Draco looked up and glared at Harry then focused his attention back to his food.
Come Thursday everyone was in the Great Hall eating breakfast when the owls came and dropped off the mail. Malfoy received treats from home and started to gloat in hopes of getting attention from Hermione. "Can i have one Draco?" Crabbe asked. "No, you oaf. My mother sent them for me." He wouldn't mind sharing with Hermione though.
Draco got up to offer her some when he saw the boy with a toad holding up a remembrall and snatched it right out of his hands. Potter and Weasley jumped out of their seats and Professor McGonagall rushed right over.
"What's going on?"
"Malfoys got my remembrall, Professor." Draco dropped the ball on the table "I was just looking at it." He said as he sulked away Crabbe and Goyle behind him.
In the afternoon all the Gryffindor and Slytherin first years came down the front steps for their flying lesson. The children went and stood behind a broom. Gryffindors on one side Slytherins on the other. Their teacher, Madam Hooch, arrived. She had short gray hair and yellow eyes. "Ok everyone, stick your right hand over your broom, and say 'UP!'".
Everyone shouted "UP!". Draco's broom jumped right into his hand, so did Harry's.
Madman Hooch showed them how to mount their brooms "Hold it tight while your riding children." She said . "Now when i blow my whistle, kick up from the ground, hard, keep your brooms steady, rise a little off the ground then come straight back down." She counted to three and blew but the toad boy, who's name was Neville, got nervous and pushed off.
"Come back, boy!" His broom rose higher and higher into the air as all the students stared up.
He flew higher until he turned pale and started falling to the ground. Madam Hooch stood over the boy who was holding his wrists and howling in pain. "Ooh a broken wrist." She helped him up and said "You all stay here, and nobody should leave the ground or you'll be out of Hogwarts faster than you can say Quidditch." She walked away holding a now crying Neville.
"Did you see his face, the great lump?" The other Slytherins laughed. "Look!" said Malfoy running forward and snatching something off the ground. "It's the stupid remembrall his gran sent him." "Give it here, Malfoy." Harry said. Malfoy smiled a nasty smile. "I think i'll leave it somewhere for Longbottom to find... how about... up a tree." Draco jumped onto his broom and took off.
Harry took after him. "That Potter he'll never come after me that goody-two-shoes." Draco said. Then he heard gasp and turned around to see Harry darting after him.
"Give it here, or i'll knock you off your broom."
"Oh yeah?" Harry steered forward and Malfoy got out of the way in time.
"No Crabbe and Goyle up here to save you, Malfoy." Draco thought for a second then said "Catch it if you can then!" he shouted and threw the ball high into the air. Draco raced back toward the ground. "That'll show him." Draco said.
After a few minutes Harry Potter came back to the ground holding Neville'a remembrall. Draco sneered. "HARRY POTTER!" Professor Mcgonagall was running toward them. Draco laughed as he was taken off the field "He's done it now." Goyle said smiling at Draco. After the class was over Draco found Harry in the Great Hall.
"Having a last meal, Potter? When are you getting on the train back to the muggles?"
"You're a lot braver now that you're back on the ground and you've got your little friends with you,"
"I'd take you on anytime on my own, tonight if you want. Wizards duel. Wands only. No contact.Whats wrong ? Never had a Wizards duel?"
"Of course he has." said Ron. "I'm his second. Whose yours?" Draco looked at Crabbe and Goyle and said "Crabbe. Midnight all right? We'll meet in the trophy room. That's always unlocked."
Malfoy had walked away.
"Are we really gonna go Malfoy? We might get points taken away from Slytherin if we do." Crabbe said concerned.
"Of course not, don't be stupid. We're gonna tell Snape so he can bust them and they'll get points taken away. We'll be fast asleep in bed. While Potter and that Weasley are on the train back home." Draco said knowingly.
