Jayda's POV

*********************

"You really think Lucas means what he said about helping me?" I asked Stacy as we walked into class a lot later than we should have. It had taken me forever to put on my dress, I had debated not even going to class. The dress was so many painful memories all wrapped up in one, and only reminded me of why I was at this school in the first place. I was here to recover from a bad breakup, not start a war with a bad boy. Except I had done just that. I was worried about being marked late but Mr. Sactew didn't even notice us, he was busy rummaging through his cluttered desk muttering to himself about losing his badge again.

"Actually, I do." Stacy replied, absentmindedly fluffing her hair as we walked to two empty desks in the front of the room. "But I wouldn't talk so loudly about your new friend in front of Satan's little helper." Shit. Widening my eyes and looking frantically around I located Aiden in the very back row, eyes closed and napping. Thank God he hadn't heard me.

"Thanks for the reminder." I told Stacy, taking my seat. The strange girl with the dazzling green eyes I had sat next to yesterday that had refused to talk to me was next to Aiden, hiding behind her hair and scribbling furiously with her pencil. Once again I found myself wanting to talk to her. She was a mystery, and one I wanted to solve. I made myself a mental note to ask Stacy about it later.

"Ah! Here it is!" Mr. Sactew announced proudly, beaming when he found his badge hanging out of his back product. A few errant snickers sounded from around me and I frowned. Despite his eccentricites, Mr. Sactew was a truly nice man and the fact that he was oblivious to the cruelties happening around him made me angry. How dare these people take advantage of him like that?

"Are you okay?" Stacy asked as our teacher began his lesson on the Civil War. "You look like you're about to kill your worksheet, and I promise you that poor dead tree does not deserve your wrath." Blinking out of my trail of thought, I looked down and noticed that my hand was gripping the corner of my paper very tightly, and that half of the page was now crumpled.

"I'm fine." I muttered, smoothing the creases out and picking up my pencil. It was a lie. Everyone at school had known Alex was cheating on me with Tasha. And they had treated me just like everyone treated Mr. Sactew; like a tiny little pet that was too hilarious to scold so they stuck with making fun of it and not letting it know why. Mentally, I hit myself in the head. Get it together Jayda. I ordered, tapping my  pencil. Even here Alex was causing problems, but these were problems I could fix. I just needed to distract myself.

A tiny voice in my head whispered what better distraction than a certain bad boy you need to take down? Carefully looking over my shoulder at a sleeping Aiden, a plan began to form in my mind. Sure he was messing with me by taking my clothes and giving them back, but why did that mean that I couldn't give him a little hell while playing his games? This wasn't the right period though, Mr. Sactew wouldn't even notice if I tried getting Aiden in trouble. But my friendly neighborhood demonic gym teacher might... Smiling, I tuned out of the lecture and began to plot.

"She looks too happy. Right? It's not just me?" I asked for what was probably the billionth time.

"Dude. Chill." Spencer snorted from his seat across from me. It was lunch, and since I hadn't kidnapped her, Jayda was sitting next to Stacy and charming all of her friends. A small part of me was annoyed that she wasn't sitting with us. Shouldn't she be over here trying to mess with me, or demand my surrender?

"How can I chill when we don't have a plan?" I hissed, stabbing my macaroni with a fork. "Look at her, she's perfectly happy and I can't stand it!"
