AN: Hey! So just so you don't have to go back and remember what;s going on, Jayda's next task is to get her clothes from the top of a flagpole. And remember, the reason Jayda came here in the first place was because of a bad breakup... so I'm trying to get a little more into that....
Jayda's POV.
"So......" Aiden drawled, coming up behind me and casually tossing an arm over my shoulder. "Any ideas on how you're going to tackle this one?" Clenching my fists, I did my best to ignore the eager student's, each one turning to a friend and asking "Is it yours?"
Ducking out of Aiden's hold, I shaded my eyes with a hand and gazed up at the outfit. Hell no. Not that outfit. Any combination of clothes and stupid Aiden Kace had to go and pick the single most painful one.
*One Year Ago*
"What is it?" I squealed, barely able to contain my excitement as I hopped back and forth, wanting to rip the bandana off of my eyes. He had asked me to wear something nice, and I was in my best dress, dark blue with white rhinestones on the bodice.
"Just be patient, kay?" Alex's warm voice tickled the sensitive spot behind my ear, and warmth bloomed throughout my body. Planting a chaste kiss on my lips, Alex grabbed my hand and continued to lead me through the crowded house, music blaring from Tasha's speakers. Usually I didn't bother myself with the head bitch and her cheerleaders, but Alex had begged, and who was I kidding? I couldn't resist him!
Narrowly avoiding sending me sprawling down the back porch, Alex tugged me up behind him, wrapping his arms around me and pulling the blindfold off. I gasped. Tasha's back yard had been transformed into a fairy tale of magical lights, giant strands of them looped across trees and dangled over the sparkling pond.
"Alex....." I was speechless. "It's beautiful!" Turning me to face him, my boyfriend brought me in for a lingering kiss.
"Happy anniversary." He smiled against my lips.
NOW
<><><<><><
The same night, five minutes later I found Alex lip locked with Tasha. I never wore that dress again. And now I had to get it down from it's current job as a flag.
"This is the kind of thing that happens when you get involved with Kace." A cold, unmistakably British voice snapped. Whipping around to face Henry, I couldn't help unleashing some of the anger I felt towards Alex.
"Just get over yourself!" I snarled. "I get it okay? Aiden pulled one over on you! But that doesn't mean you can go all angsty every single time he takes a breath!!! Shit happens, so deal with it and shut the fuck up!" There was dead silence once I finished my tirade, and only then did I realize just how loudly I had been speaking.
"Just wait until he screws and uses you, or whatever the hell he has planned!" Henry shouted right back, a furious gleam in his eyes. "You know what? I tried to be nice, I might have even thought you were worth something more but whatever might have happened is done!" Damn. People were looking at me like Christmas had come early in the form of my entertainment. Why had I let my emotions rule me like that? Sighing as Henry stormed off, I tried not to kick myself. Even here Alex was creating problems.
Unable to stand the eyes of the entire student body on me, I lashed out as I stalked towards the flagpole. "Take a freaking picture why don't ya? It will last a hell of a lot longer." I heard a few wayward chuckles and tried not to scream. I hadn't meant to make them laugh. Damn It.
5 minutes later found me halfway up the flagpole, trying to avoid going insane. Down below, Spencer has started to lead a sing along of "ain't no mountain high enough" and occasionally Aiden would shout up words of "encouragement"
"Yo Jayda!" I bit my tongue as Satan himself addressed me. "Could you hurry this up? I've got classes to go to that would be more entertaining than this!" Of course he did. It's not like it was his fault I was up here in the first place. Lost in my thoughts of taking off a boot and hurling at Aiden's head, I lost my grip and slowly at first, and then faster, began to plummet to the ground. Choice words flew from my mouth faster than humanly possible, no doubt my dad would have fainted.
I was feet from ending up as a splat mark on the ground when out of nowhere two strong arms grabbed me, pulling me against a rock hard chest. Breathless, I looked up into the face of.... Wait.... This couldn't be right could it?
Lucas... The moody broody friend of Aiden had caught me? Struggling to escape his grasp and make sense of the situation, I was stopped in my tracks when Lucas spoke, his dark grey eyes flashing.
"Listen. Aiden thinks he has you this time, and I want you to prove him wrong. God knows he needs to be knocked down a few pegs, but I suggest getting your clothes in a way that doesn't offer the entire student body a glimpse of your newly one prize. I gasped as he set me down.
Ohmygod the underwear set I had won back. Looking around, more than one set of male eyes was looking at me appreciatively. And it was all thanks to my unconventional pole dancing. And if you thought about it, that's what I had been doing.
"Phew. I gotta say Ginger, THAT was definitely more interesting than class."
"Oh shut up Aiden." I walked past him, ready to take another swing at getting my clothes back, when a sharp voice stopped me in my tracks.
"Ms. Jayda what on EARTH are you doing, and WHY has Mr. Kace here had to call me and inform me that You are pole dancing?" I could feel Aiden's victorious smile as I turned to face the headmonstress. It had been a hell of a day and it wasn't even nine in morning.
Lucas's POV
What the hell had that been about? As I watched Jayda being led away by a furious Headmistress, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of protectiveness.
"Good catch Luke." Tyler walked up to me with a knowing smile. "You gonna tell her why you were there so fast, why you were watching her so intently?" Narrowing my eyes, I turned away. No one knew my secret but Tyler, and I certainly hoped Jayda wouldn't ever remember that sickly little boy from next door, who never forgot the debt he owed his neighbor.
But that didn't mean I had feelings for her right? Shaking my head, I walked away from where Aiden was holding court over his loyal subjects. I needed time to figure this out, and until I did I needed to Stay the hell away from one unnamed fiery little redhead.
AN: I'm so sorry this took so long! And so sorry it sucks... :/ but hey, what's up with Lucas?? Thank you so much for reading!!! Comment vote and fan my lovelies!!! :)
