Enmeshed Kinship

Prologue

I am so done with this. I've proven myself already and that's enough, I don't need anything nor anyone to defend me anymore, but I'm not martyr so the truth must prevail.

I sat at the nearest chair placed on the front beside the prosecutor and the authorities with me.

Agad din kaming umupo after that officer handed the paper to the prosecutor.

"Ms. Cortez, you are being charged after stealing one thing belonging to the victim, how will you plead yourself not guilty?"

"If you believe me."I whispered and now changed my gesture as if I'm so confident after hearing my lawyer faked his cough,well syempre pinapaayos niya lang ako."Well, uh, attorney, you can see on my phone records that we had a little conversation, we were related, so what do you expect from me seeing her?"

"You mean seeing her before she was found unconscious?"

"What?" oh so that's the reason why she isn't here.

"Acting confused huh?"he scoffed.

"Oh what are you, a psychic?How is she?Is she critical or what?"

"Why are you asking as if you don't want her to--"

"Hey, why don't you just beat around the bush and tell me really what is this case for?"I turned my gaze to my lawyer "Is he a lawyer?He sounded so unprofessional, gosh"

"Mr. Cerda(prosecutor)reported that he found the body before you skedaddle with your car and of course he had shown the evidence of you inside you car, minutes after the victim was found.Now, if ever you plead guilty, they will give you 2 years in prison."sa wakas at may boses din pala ang lawyer ko.

"Oh, yeah?The prosecutor itself found the victim and no one doubted it?"

"Doubting me now?Why would I help her then?"

"Precisely!That's the point, you've waited for this moment to happen so no one will ever suspect you knowing that you're handling the case, helping her what?derogate me?Use me as your instrument to eradicate her?"

"What makes you think I want to eradicate her when I only want to derogate you so she can have the justice?"

"yeah great, let's just not fool ourselves for now.Why am I really here?"

"So we can both negotiate"

"Well not until you make this case clearer, you said I've stolen something from the victim?What is it?"

"Her Boyfriend"

I tittered."What the?"I know it isn't funny but why would he freaking think of that."Ok,um attorney here's the thing, I think this plan, this whole plan of yours, was great but of course not perfect, you've left something blemish which made the last straw more complicated, well thanks to your own speculations but uhm will you now detract this case if I show the concrete evidence of my brother and I?"

"So you think picture of you and the victim's boyfriend will prove your innocence?"

"We're not talking about anyone's innocence we're talking about the truth."

"Very well then, we'll see each other after the result, it may help"

"w-what result?"

He chuckled, omg he heard it, ugh wrong timing "Dna result of your brother and you?"

"Yeah right."

"Mr. Fernandez may I borrow your client?"

"Let's have an agreement, if I ever acted klutz in this case and it helped you prove yourself not guilty, then the only thing you have to do is never contact her, ever again"

"I don't really have to prove myself, I'm not guilty."

"Why so wayward?Come on" he insisted

"Nope, you can't do this"

"Are you underestimating me now Ms. Cortez?"he raised his brows on mine

"I'm not questioning any of your ability, I'm questioning your motivation"

"I know you are innocent"

"Why can't I contact her then?" I know in this cas I couldn't just trust anybody, definitely not him.

"Damn, why so nosy?"

"Why?"I told him, changing my calm tone earlier.

"Because I know you've seen it."

"The what?"I acted curious.

"We both know I did it.Let's just help each other"

He then looked away and turned his back on mine after I felt my lawyer's presence.

"Ms. Cortez, you might want to answer this"

He handed me his phone and there I saw kung sino ang gusto kumausap sakin kaya I gave it back to him."Tell him na I'll go there later, and oh, uhm call him,the other guy, you know, just to make sure I'm safe"
"Sure thing, take care".

We're now done with that powwow in chambers so I decided to come home na.

"Dad,uh"

"hija, sit down, how was it?"

"I've been framed"

"I know, I know you won't do such thing"

"right, they want to run some tests with Blake"

"Who do you think did this, tell me"

I handed him my phone and played whatever I recorded earlier.

I gave him my phone playing the thing I recorded in it. I should be more careful and to assure one thing, I did recorded what our conversation earlier was about.

"I've seen it, he forced her.But I have no enough evidence right now to prove that it's him except what's in this phone.She needed help so I tried to call authorities and brought my first aid kit with me, but then I was late, I tried to find her and just gave up, drove my car and just flee like nothing happened."

"If I ever did something wrong or anything, please forgive me"

"What?What are you saying?"

"I have to do everything to not lose my authority so I'll be able to protect you"

"yeah yeah I know.I also know you'll take care of everything, I trust you, I'll go now, no worries I have him with me,bye"

Kinakalkal ko na yung bag ko ngayon para mahanap yung keys sa sasakyan pero hindi ko mahanap, I must have left it on my condo, nasa garage lang kasi yung car pero nasakin lagi yung key, but kanina I have someone with me para sunduin at ihatid ako, I think right now kailangan niya uli akong ihatid.

I knocked on his car na nakapark sa facade namin "Hey, Michael" I smiled at him and started his car para makauwi na ako.
