It began to rain lightly as Grian stepped inside the main entrance of Sahara. He shook out the rain droplets in his hair, took off his damp woollen jumper along with his satchel, and hung them on the coat hanger by the doorway. After he kicked off his muddy shoes, leaving him in just his white T-shirt and grey track pants, he walked further inside and started looking around for his fellow Architechs.
"Hello, Mumbo?" he called. "Iskall? Anyone home?"
When no reply came Grian went up the stairs that led to the next floor. He walked into the meeting room where he, Mumbo, and Iskall held their business conferences. No one was in there either, but he did notice a small piece of paper that had been left on the table. Someone had drawn a rather derpy looking person in a chicken suit on it and written below: "Who is the man in the chicken costume?!".
"Well it's definitely not me, I don't look anything like him!" Grian laughed. He picked up the paper and flipped it over in his hands. A note was written on the back.
Hey Grian,
We finally found your potato in the delivery system. It took four hours to find! You've had your fun, now it's our turn. We'd give you our resource gathering assignments for this week as punishment, but we've already finished them. So instead you can be in charge of cleaning out all the left-over potato skin left behind in the system.
Have fun. >:)
Your fellow Architechs,
Mumbo and Iskall.
P.S. DON'T TOUCH THE REDSTONE!!"Aww man..." Grian groaned as he shoved the note into the pocket of his track pants. "I think I'd prefer the grinding sessions." Suddenly, a series of loud noises came from the redstone warehouse at the back of the shop, startling Grian out of his wits.
* BANG! *
* CRASH! *
'What was that?!' Grian ran out of the meeting room, down the stairs and across the back lawn, heading straight towards the next building. He ran across the wet grass, calling out for his friends. "Iskall, Mumbo, is that you?! Are you guys okay in there?!" no answer came when he barged through the iron doors and looked around.'What... in the server... happened here...?'
The warehouse was an absolute mess. A pile of chests and shulker boxes had been knocked over, spilling redstone components, building materials, and supplies all over the white concrete floor.
The builder stepped further into the room observing the mess of items that littered the ground, trying not step on anything with his bare feet. He picked a chest from the toppled pile and turned it over "Aww man, it's going to take ages to sort all of this again... How did this even happen...?".
As he began to fill the chest with random items, a noise came from behind the pile of chests and shulker boxes, making Grian jump. It sounded like something was scratching against wood.
"Hello? I-Is someone behind there?" Grian called out, slightly nervous. The only answer was the same scratching noise, followed by a different muffled noise.
"Meow..."
Grian stood frozen in place.
"Meow!"
"Meow?" Grian repeated, "Now where have I heard that before?". He mustered up enough courage to step closer towards the chest pile. The scratching and meowing seemed to come from one small chest in particular, it had been knocked over like the rest of them, with the opening facing the floor.'A mob must have gotten stuck inside.' He grabbed the box, slowly and gently lifting it up, placing it to the side. A mob had indeed been inside it, one that Grian and the other Hermits knew all too well.
There, curled in a ball on the floor, was a small cat. It had a white and grey patched fur coat, although it would be hard to tell as it was covered in redstone dust spilt from the chest. It looked up at Grian with its big, green eyes, looking just as surprised as he did, but at the same time grateful that it was free. It then stood up and stretched, walked over to him and rubbed itself against his leg.
"Jellie?! What are you doing in here?" Grian laughed as he knelt down beside the cuddly cat. "I'm guessing you were the one who made this mess." Jellie purred as he picked her up and brushed the loose redstone dust out of her fur.
"Scar is probably worried sick about you." He chuckled while he rubbed her head and scratched behind her ears. "We better get you back to him."
Just then, a bright flash of light came from outside, followed by a loud...
* CRASH! *
The sound of the rain beating on the roof grew louder as the first crash of thunder faded. "Really? Another thunderstorm?" Grian muttered. He looked down to find Jellie trembling in his arms, snuggling closer to his chest. He stroked the cat gently and whispered soft words in her ear. "Hey, it's okay Jellie. It's just a little bit of thunder, it'll pass soon."Like all the other Hermits, Grian knew about Scar's fear of thunder. But he never knew that the cowboy's cat, Jellie, was scared of it too. Maybe that was why Scar and Jellie had such a great friendship. They were both very much alike, they were both friendly, playful, cheery, resourceful, compassionate, and it seemed they were also both afraid of thunder. Scar loved the cat more than just about anything, so it was not surprising that Jellie seemed to show the same affection for her human companion. The pair were definitely inseparable.
'So why are you here, and not with Scar? During a thunderstorm of all times...' Grian thought. Something serious had to be going on, and Grian was going to find out what it was. He stood up with Jellie still in his arms and headed for the warehouse door. "Cleaning the system can wait, we're on a mission Jellie!" He happily announced, glad that he found something interesting to do.
"A mission to find Scar and return you safely to him!"
