Mabel sat on the bus alone, with only Waddles as company. He fell asleep on her lap, but she couldn't fall asleep. All she could think of what life would be like without her twin brother.
The bus driver looked at Mabel, "You're awfully quiet there Miss, is everything alright? What happened to your brother?"
Mabel's head shot up from the sudden conversation, "Oh, uh... he had to stay in Gravity Falls."
"How come?"
Mabel sighed, "Gravity Falls chose him."

After some time, Mabel was back in Piedmont and she got off the bus with her head down.
Her parents who had "welcome back" signs looked at each other with worried faces and rushed to their daughter.
"Sweetie what's wrong?" Their mom asked.
They both looked behind and left to right, "And where's your brother?" their dad asked.
Mabel dropped her stuff, hugged her parents, and burst into tears. Her parents looked at each other and tried to calm their daughter down.
"Mabel, please tell us what's wrong!" Her mother pleaded.
"Dippeeeerrrr...." is all that came out.
"Yes, where IS your brother?" Her mom asked.
Mabel sniffed, "He's- he's-"
"Sweetie what is it?" Her dad asked.
"He's not coming back!"

The Pines went home in silence in the car. The parents didn't even ask why Mabel had a pig, they just wanted to know what was going on.
When they got home, Mabel rushed to her and her brother's room and slammed the door.
She fell on top of her bed and looked to the other side of the room that belonged to her brother.
She sniffed and more tears fell down her face, "G-good night Dipper."
